Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 35

I think the wave is over, guys. I heard about a semi-finalist. I'm guessing finalist calls have already gone out. This is just a guess, though.

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 35

Wow, the forum is hopping! Condolences for all who rcvd an "R." I've had my share of those! Congrats to all the HM'ers. That's awesome (and frustrating!) There seems to be a curious lack of SHMs, SFs and finalists. What could this mean? ***looks around suspiciously at the forumites who hav...

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 35

Thanks for the input, thewritescott, and for the article. That was definitely worth the read. My main problem is that my characters are not human, and they don't seem human. It's not that they aren't engaging, per say, but their inhumanity makes them a bit harder to empathize with. The part in the ...

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 35

Spiraledpen here, New to the contest and a little bit of an old schooler. Does anyone know how the mailed manuscripts get processed? I’m guessing most entries go digital. Do they get processed last? And if so, last to hear the trumpet sound (or the axe). Just a wondering... wotf017 Mailed manuscrip...

Jeez, new avatars can only be 16 kb or smaller? I couldn't find any images that small. I finally took my image (34 kbs), opened it in "paint", re-sized it down to fifty percent, and saved it as a gif file and got it down to 13 kb. Success!

Re: Agonizing Mistakes

@Vin Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it too much. - Mistakes/typos in the opening lines aren't ideal, but if Dave makes it past those it shouldn't affect how he judges the story overall. - If Dave doesn't get past the opening lines (i.e. you get an R), then at least you'll know why. - If Dave does...
