Re: Success!
I donno if it's success or anything, but I think I cracked a personal rejection letter from Lightspeed. I haven't received a personal yet, so I donno if it is or not (since normally they say form rejection on it or something like it). Thanks for submitting this story, but I'm going to pass on it. I...

Congratulations izanobu, kyle, Grayson, Martin, Brad, Patty, Alex and anyone I missed (I'm skimming). Digital SF definitely looks like an interesting new market.

Also keep in mind that WotF, like any other market, has its specific tastes. Don't get too discouraged if you land a rejection, for example, it may just mean that the story doesn't work for here. And yes, if you land anything short of a win: send the story straight back out to another market. Oh, an...

Re: Science Fiction and Fantasy on TV.
Umm...actually...no. 8) I LOVE SG-1, and like Atlantis too...Universe didn't do it for me. Its like they were trying to copy the "feel" of Battlestar and failing. And the plot was all over the place. IMHO. Couldn't agree more. Though, it did seem to be finding its feet, slowly. Enough so ...

When you hands fall off, there is always voice recognition software. When your tongue falls out, you can learn to type with your toes. I feel an Isaac Asimov quote coming on: If my doctor told me I had only six minutes to live, I wouldn't brood. I'd type a little faster. Great interview. In fact, a...

Orson Scott Card
From Dave Farland's Daily Kick: Yesterday I learned that my good friend, mentor, and fellow writer Orson Scott Card had a stroke and would be canceling all appearances for the near future.... ....Fortunately, it was a minor stroke.... Here's wishing Mr. Card a speedy recovery. He's got a long road a...

Re: Sci-Fi and Fantasy Books You Enjoy?
Clarke's Rendezvous with Rama and Matheson's I am Legend were the two books that got me hooked on sci-fi many a year ago - Rama in particular. I'd probably rank them as my two favorite reads of all time / thus far in the life of me. Haldeman's Forever War, Pohl's Gateway and Bradbury's Fahrenheit 45...

Past Guests Section Permissions
Hi Brad, I think I pointed this out in another thread, but since you've got a nice shiny new purpose-built-section: The "Past Guests" section still seems to be locked for reading (at least for me, anyway). Nice addition to the forum with this section, by the way. This forum seems to run pr...

Hi, my name is Jerlana. I just submitted my second (or third?) story to WOTF. Live in California and love Stargate (NOT UNIVERSE! THAT IDIOCY DOES NOT EXIST!), The Dresden Files and Torchwood. I am currently getting a quarter-ante Facebook publishing company going and trying to figure out college. ...

Re: General Rules for the Forum
Just wondering, how come the Special Guests section is locked these day? None of the guests are checking those threads, and I don't want new users to post to them thinking they will get a reply, because they won't. Sorry, my bad. Meant from a reading perspective: You do not have the required permis...

Re: NOTE: This is how you format your Contest entry!
Hello all, new member here. I have always wondered if having your pen name on your manuscript is permissible. For WotF? Or in General? For WotF: no names anywhere. The competition is supposed to be judged in complete anonymity. Don't put a name in the filename, don't put a name in the header, don't...

Re: Science Fiction and Fantasy on TV.
Sorry, my bad: I actually thought the peacekeeper wars was okay. It was the last fully-fledged season (4, if I remember correctly), that I didn't think was great. It had some great comic moments, but was very disjointed - came off from one week to the next as if the series had no idea where it was g...

Re: Science Fiction and Fantasy on TV.
Anyone ever come across a show called Odyssey 5 than ran for a single season in the early 00's? It wasn't anything fantastically "out there" - but it was very enjoyable. There was also a mini-series from somewhere called The Triangle that was mildly watchable. And, I always thought that Fa...
