Re: Quarter 3, Writers and Illustrators of the Future vol. 3

I'm happy to be back with an Honorable Mention. I haven't placed even there since before the last quater with KD, so to me it's a good sign that I can at least hold David Farland's attention enough to read through the story.

Re: Frozen

I read your post and then I asked my wife and kids who love the movie why it isn't the Princes Anna story. Anna never had a chance because she never sang the big song and she never wore the beautiful dress. No Disney princess is complete without the song and dress things. I suspect that if you had w...

Well I for one say congratulations again to all eight finalists. That was one heck of a backward quarter and the results didn't stop suprising me right up to the end.

And well done Tina, Marina and Steve!

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Anybody want to argue for waiting? I'd like to think that being able to mention that the story was a semi-finalist might get it a more serious look at by an editor. Any slush pile readers agree, or is a non-"winner" not worth mentioning? Or do you not say that about the story specifically...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

I have a wild hair idea about Quarter One. With this much time taken, I have to wonder now if someone hasn't decided that because we have a new judge, to be fair to all entrants, all stories must be reviewed by that new judge. Now, I am not advancing this theory to give hope to my own rejection in t...

I hate to sound pessimistic, but the roll call of who hasn't been rejected yet is getting to be long enough that I fear final rejections are more and more likely in greater numbers than I had been hoping for. But then again NNINN (an attempt to abreaviate the "No News Is No News").

Re: Clarkesworld Jaunary 2012 stats

At 600 to 800 submissions in a month for Clarksworld, it makes the 1000 submissions a quarter for WOTF seem a bit low since that number accumulated in a three month submission period. Of course Clarksworld submissions aren't limited to new authors only, so that opens them up to a more per month. Sti...

Re: Not About Read an Ebook Week Anymore

I’m guessing that most of the people who don’t like Pay Pal’s action, sympathize with advertisers who have pulled their ads from the Rush Limbaugh show. There are plenty of market listings for fiction (including the Writers of the Future) that specifically state that they will not accept stories tha...
