Re: Volume 32 (2016)--Anthology, Workshop & Gala

Speaking of signings, Jon Lasser, Stephen Merlino, Paul Otteni, and yours truly will all be on hand this coming Saturday, the 28th of May, from noon to 2pm, at the downtown Seattle Barnes & Noble. If you've already bought a copy, I'll have bookmarks to sign, or we can do some sort of bookplate t...

Re: WOTF 32 Anthology Book Club

Fun fact: it was going to be Squalor & Empathy, because that seemed a more fitting name for the magic, until it was pointed out to me that Empathy wasn't a word until the 20th Century. Which I was secretly glad of because I prefer the alliteration of Squalor & Sympathy anyway :) Really? But...

Hi all! We're currently #3 in the Barnes and Noble website's sci-fi section, but we only have one review there. If you've read the anthology, could you hop on over and review it there? Sorry for the double-ask--I know a bunch of you have already reviewed it on Amazon. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w...

I have two stories out this month (with a foreign-language reprint on the way on the 15th, supposedly). Story one is original: " Just Another Night at the Abandoned Draft Bar and Grill ." You can read this story in Galaxy's Edge, where it shares a table of contents with George RR Martin ( ...

God help us all, Stewart & I have written another Baker & Dovey tale for this. In a week. 5k words. This one has rat-people and a dog-kingdom and snakes all fighting underground. It is, if anything, even sillier. Fingers crossed for you both! Your finger-crossing must have cancelled out our...

While I don't want to draw unwanted attention, I would point out that it shouldn't be too surprising if you haven't heard of most of the Campbell nominees this year. For, uh, reasons. (Happy to explain this in a PM if anyone's confused. Please don't say why in this public thread if you know.) Alyssa...

Re: Volume 32 (2016)--Anthology, Workshop & Gala

I was going to comment that, amusingly enough, my winning story's opening WAS mostly setting description, but then I looked at it again: The air on the cliffs above the Shattered Sea was hot as a furnace and twice as dry. Still, Driss couldn’t suppress a shiver at the way the shimmering message-glob...

Hooray for hats!

I'm not sure I'll bring my top hat because it would be a pain to pack and I'd only be wearing It for being outside on the day of the ceremony.

But I do have an all-purpose hat that I wear.
