(And kudos if you can name the pro editor that peronally typed "alas" on his rejections well over 100,000 times. You get a Scooby Snack.) It was Gordon van Gelder at F&SF who used alas in his rejects. Alas, he has since retired. Zoinks! Laurie gets a Scooby Snack! ~Moon~ I got as pers...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Hello, I'm Alexis. I've been writing for a while now, one unpublished novel and quite a few short stories. I'm also a middle school science teacher and a classical musician (violin, viola, and now Medieval rebec). I've written a couple of non-fiction articles for Renaissance Magazine, and I've had ...

Congratulations on the recent successes, folks, especially jficke13. First sale is the best sale, and I'm looking forward to hearing the details!

I have a flash piece out today in T. Gene Davis's Speculative Blog: Anchor and Key. It's basically my love letter to libraries.

Re: Annual 48 Hour Flash Fiction Contest (New Scientist)

It sounds like a very cool contest, but be sure to read the FAQ section, which has this bit here: Q: Can I sell, publish or develop my film or story after submitting to the challenge? A: Yes. It's yours and you own own it, so exploit away! However, please remember by taking part you grant us an in-p...

For those of us still waiting, I looked back through records and it appears that Q1 HM and higher results have come out in the last week of April for the last several years. It would be lovely if they were earlier this time, but I'm going to hold off on any twitching until the end of next month.
