Re: Success!

I had two stories published at the beginning of this month: "This Isn't Better" in Galaxy's Edge , and "Peace in the Valley" in Factor Four Magazine . They were my second publications in both markets. I am now officially pro-ed out from the contest. I have learned so much from be...

Re: Success!

I sold a story to The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction . *faints* Blogged about it here: http://www.ympang.com/i-sold-a-story-to-the-magazine-of-fantasy-and-science-fiction/ It's close to April Fool's. Wouldn't blame y'all if you didn't believe me. Fantastic sale, Michelle! Congratulations! ...

The moral of this story: I need to spend less time on my phone. wotf019 Seriously, though! I've recently taken up walking every day, and I don't use my phone, I don't have the internet, and I don't even listen to music. It's amazing what a brain will do when it doesn't have other things taking up i...

Re: What's a Silver Honorable Mention as opposed to a regular HM?

There are a few markets where I mention that I have been a Writers of the Future finalist--IGMS and Galaxy's Edge specifically--but otherwise I don't mention it in cover letters. It does show up in my author bio. That said, I always say that *I* have been a finalist, not that *this story* was a fina...

Keep in mind that even if/when Dave is done, he's not the one who sends out the responses, Joni is, and she's in the middle of workshop week/gala prep, so the first quarter is almost always a long wait.

FictionMuse is generally posting links to interviews or articles about authors/editors in the business, in the Interviews subforum. This one doesn't bother me.

Re: What's a Silver Honorable Mention as opposed to a regular HM?

Even Rs can be publishable. I've sold 3 out of 5 Rs so far, and only 1 out of 5 HMs. I do feel my HMs are better than my Rs in general, so it is just a matter of market really. I second that it's a matter of market, often. I've sold 6 out of 14 HMs (two of my HMs were the same story, just edited), ...
