I have a story out today in the second-quarter issue of Abyss & Apex. Better yet, I'm sharing the TOC with Tom Carpenter! You can read both our stories here: http://www.abyssapexzine.com/.

Re: Analog Submissions
Now somebody's messin' with our heads. All recent responses on the Grinder have disappeared, including the one acceptance that was also on Duotrope. Analog? What's that? Never heard of it... Passing on what the Grinder folks are saying: The site had some issues and they had to restore the database ...

Re: Analog Submissions
Submission Grinder is now listing one at 182 days and another at 175 days. As mine is at 178, I expect word any time now. And every minute that I don't hear anything will be made up of me being convinced that Analog will be the first market to recognize my genius and publish me and make me a househ...

Re: Success!
My semi-finalist from 2011 is the featured short story of the month at Fireside Magazine! The issue went live this morning with a beautiful wonderful perfect illustration for my story by Hugo winner Galen Dara. Fireside is behind a paywall (alas), but subscriptions are available and you can also buy...

I'm not aware of a word limit. I'd say if you're unsure, then query.
Amid the recent flurry of responses, my e-mail box is sadly silent. Fingers crossed.

I'm a little unclear on this, but did you sell a story to Fireside too, Jennifer? I just got word this morning that I won the powerball. (Well, okay, I won $4. Literally, just the powerball number... wotf001 ) More seriously, and more excitingly for me, I also received word that my short story &quo...

Re: Five Minute Rant
Another rejection from Daily Science Fiction. I made one sale there almost exactly a year ago, and it's been nothing but rejections since then. It's very frustrating to get a taste of pro and then not be able to repeat. Of course I'll keep trying, but ... sigh.

Re: Five Minute Rant
Second-round rejection from Daily Science Fiction, which in itself wouldn't sting quite so much if it hadn't taken them 60 days to do it. At least this was the first market for this story. Plenty of other places to try.

Re: Five Minute Rant
I'm at 205 days with Weird Tales. I should probably send a note to them asking what's going on soon, but seems like they've gone underground. No one is reporting responses. Makes me worry about the health of the magazine. Hmm. They changed editors too recently I believe. There was much ill-feeling ...

Re: Five Minute Rant
As I can attest, when they're on a roll, submissions sometimes come back from Clarkesworld within a few hours. Lightspeed's been known to reject in under 20 minutes. It's the universe's way of balancing out all those submissions to GUD, and Tor.com, and Dark Discoveries... And Weird Tales, Alfred H...

Wreck it Ralph much? I hear that one's pretty good. World of Warcraft? Billion dollars much? Silly critique. That's not helpful, that's an opinion. Oops. I ranted in the mixed feelings thread. wotf004 D Good point. Maybe comparing my story to a video game was a compliment. Although I had neither Ra...

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread
144-day rejection from ASIM. This was the first time I made it to the third round there, which felt like a victory of sorts. But then ... rejection. The personal comments ranged from "I really like this" to "This felt like a video game." Ouch.
