Re: Jibber Jabber - Q4 - Volume 33

HM here too. Was for a new story I'd wrote that was kinda long and experimental-ish in nature, so I'm pretty happy with that. I sure seem to have the HMs down now, haha. Consistency I guess? xD

And congrats to all other placers. :D

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 33

Hey folks! I've been gone for a while (for about a year or more I think now... haha), been getting my day job stuff situated, but finally started writing and submitting short fiction again now that I have a stable full time job. Ended up submitting a reworked story for this quarter, got an HM. I gue...

Re: Penumbra Submissions

Bah, mine was rejected too. I did get a couple sentences of feedback that may help me strengthen the beginning of the piece though, so it's not all a loss.

Re: Penumbra Submissions

That would be pretty damn awesome. wotf007 I submitted for this one too, after sitting a few issues out due to lack of appropriate stories. Never written a Fae-type story, ever, but eh, figured it was worth a shot. It was also my latest HM story. Thankfully I got it back with plenty of time to edit ...

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

Thanks guys, for the well wishes. wotf007 And no problem at all, Ishmael, I did ask, and I do appreciate the constructive criticism. I have a tendency to side swipe the science at times, which I think tends to push my fiction in the direction of fantasy overall, but I'd like to do a little better on...

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

Oh, hey, I forgot to post about this. My story I submitted for Penumbra's Ocean issue didn't quite get accepted, but it made it to the final round and Celina chose it for May's Rising Talent thingy. They published it on their website along with a brief essay I wrote and I received a token payment of...

Another Honorable Mention (this makes #2). :D This one was a risk since I'd submitted it in the past and got a rejection on it. So I'm pretty satisfied!

Re: Q1 Volume 29

Mine's in. :D I experimented a bit this time around, ended up with a shorter piece (just over 5k instead of my usual 10k+ beasts), which might be a good thing, orrr it might not... lol. Who knows. But I'm pretty happy with how it ended up. We'll see.

Happy new year, all!

Nothing wrong in overhauling at all. :) It's sometimes refreshing to totally overhaul an old piece, look back at the original and go, "dang, I guess I have come a long ways".

Re: Videos&Art to inspire SF / FANTASY ideas? Post YOURS ?!

For this year's NaNo, I'm writing a novel based on an idea for a sci-fi RPG game I had a few years back. I was going to UC Davis at the time, and this building pretty much made me have to write something that was sci-fi: http://boldsaguaros.byjustinkarp.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/uc-davis-death-...

Thanks for the welcomes, all. :D Blair, I live in Hemet right now, which is in the Riverside county area. I was born and raised in Tujunga, which is closer to the Burbank/Glendale area. And yep! I think I'm way better equipped now to deal with rejections, cause I know there's hopefully some success ...

Re: Science Fiction and Fantasy on TV.

Terra Nova caught my eye, so I watched the pilot. I really liked parts of it (the beginning stuff especially), but other parts of it seemed kinda cheesy, too. It seems to be marketed for a family type show, which is alright, but not exactly what I was hoping for. I'll keep watching it, though, curio...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Howdy, all. I've been lurking here the past couple of weeks since I finally decided to get my butt into gear and submit something to WotF this quarter, so figured I'd stop lurking and join the forums. :D Seems like an awesome community. I submitted something like 8 years ago, got a form letter rejec...
