Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 34

Guys, this quarter I resubmitted my first ever WOTF entry, which received a first round rejection. At the time I was devastated, thinking that a first round rejection must be a reflection of my talent. Obviously I know better now, and in most ways I have the forum to thank for that. The piece has be...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q2 - Volume 34

I'm really sorry about your friend, J'Nae. I have no experience on writing while grieving, but I will say that don't beat yourself up if you try, but find you really can't write yet. It's ok to skip a quarter.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 34

I begin to tire of re-reading my story. I probably couldn't spot a mistake if it jumped up and bit me. Hey, it's the 4th of October already. Should I submit now or not? Hmm. Decisions, decisions. Send it out! You might get some more good ideas, and perhaps your passion will ignite when you have to ...

Last minute Q4 critique - 9,000 word urban fantasy

Hi! I'm trying to turn my Q2 R into something more respectable. I've done a ton of work on it over the last week, but I'm hoping someone might be interested in a last minute exchange/look over. My own experience in critiquing is limited, but I am more than happy to give it a go. I intend to join Cri...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Hi RHB! It's nice to see another Aussie on the boards. I think there might be a few others floating around the place, but I'm not sure who they are exactly. That activation issue is frustrating, isn't it? If it doesn't get fixed soon, all the existing members will win or pro out and there will be no...

Re: Story Titling

Titling is a real weakness for me. I pretty much never have a title while I'm writing the first draft. Occasionally I'll come up with a good title after it's finished. My best ever title happened to sell on its first outing ... Coincidence? (Maybe - it also has the strongest voice I've used so far)....

Re: Registering Problem

Hi Martin,

Do you have any updates on this problem? Obviously I have had no problems assimilating a new identity to get on the forum, but there are other who don't have my skills. I can sense them lurking desperately in the shadows and kind of feel like I have a responsibility to be their champion.

Re: Success!

My first sale was just recently published in the Defying Doomsday anthology. I'm pretty thrilled, it was my first ever sub! Of course it was swiftly followed by 9 rejections. But I count myself lucky that it wasn't the other way around (Rejections are hard!) Here's the blurb: Defying Doomsday is an ...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Hello! My my name is Kristy. I'm from Australia. I've submitted my first two WOTF entries for Q2 and Q3. Some of you might be thinking - "wait, hold up! I remember Ember, she had a story back in V31. She was from Australia, but her name wasn't Kristy ." To those people I say, yes, you are ...

Registering Problem

Hi guys! I have a good friend who wants to sign up to the forum, but she never gets the email that she is meant to click on to verify. (And no, it's not in her junk folder either!) And because she can't log in she can't message anyone for help etc. Who is the right person to sort this out? Is it sti...

All of my sales (so far) have been foreign too! I set up a paypal account after I made my very first sale. Now that I think of it, all payment has been via paypal, with the exception of WotF (which was a very pretty cheque.)

Good luck to everyone waiting on Isolation. I only just clued into the fact that they accept reprints which is a shame because I have a reprint that would have perfectly fit the theme! I just subbed to Penumbra for the first time for the Hyperspeed issue. It was a decision that felt a little tricky ...
