Re: Four in Thirty-Five (4 in 35!)

I submit on like the last day in all the quarters I do manage to enter, so no, I don't have all four ready. Wish I did!
I've never done a four'fer, so I'm hoping to make this the first. wotf024

Hey Moon,

Was doing NaNo. My version of it anyway, which was a seriously truncated version of the one many others did. wotf005

But yup, I'm finishing my Q1.
Then on to Q2! wotf024

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 35

Okay, I don't hate my Q1... More importantly, I believe I will finish on time. I will be on vacation for a week this month, leaving me precious little time. If I can finish in two weeks, get a reader or two, then cram-edit that final, holiday week, I'll submit something I like. Hopefully. Good times!

I'm particularly excited about this one because I wrote and sent this in without any feedback. I've tried this several times in the past, all were straight Rs. Not a boost to one's self-confidence as a writer.

So this is good. I'm pleased. wotf008

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q4 - Volume 34

You know what's completely maddening, is that five of those will be silver HMs. Not that there's anything wrong with silver, it's damn impressive, but what I mean is, if there's say, 10 silvers, you won't know if you were one of these five. Like, you could literally be (and one of the silvers is eve...

Re: Go for the novel? Or stick with the short story?

Write for joy. My joy, personally, is writing for the contest, despite being a novelist at heart. I love that process, but it's lonely, and having worked from home for the last seven years, I need all the socializing I can get. Ahem. Anyway, my point is that you have to do what you love. If your st...

Re: What's a Silver Honorable Mention as opposed to a regular HM?

I'll add a little more to Preston's definition: SHM means you were in the "Finalist pile" that Dave segregates from the Rs and HMs. From what I have heard from people who have asked him directly, he culls and mulls, then culls some more. So the silvers survive an extra round, and are given...

I recommend writing from the heart, and a place of honesty.

The theme, the core of both my finalists were of a personal nature.

Re: What does "win" mean?

Winning is placing. It means Joni asks you if you're sitting down. Words I have yet to hear. However, published finalist is not a win, but grants almost all the benefits of a win, plus you can keep entering. I love Eric James Stone's method. His Q4 was the published finalist, and around the time he ...

Four in Thirty-Five (4 in 35!)

T his is the official thread for the 4 in 35! club. Here is where we dedicate ourselves to getting four entries into volume 35. The rules are thus: We support each other for Q1. Q1 is traditionally the thinnest quarter, which our guess has been because of the holidays and travels, etc. (Start now!)...
