Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

I was surprised this thread hadn't topped 5000 already. I have a question that may top it out in an appropriate manner. How many who submitted in Q1-29 have become finalists? I think it may be a lot. Some great writers in this group.

And so I've just returned from Los Angeles, and it was glorious! This thread shall last a thousand years! wotf007 First off, Congratulations! The entire thing looks rather BIG. I've heard that the winners are treated like royalty. Second. What happens when this thread reaches 5000? We're not that f...

Gator sneaks in, plonks this brand new cartoon of Herself on the infamous Q1 v.29 thread, then sneaks out again. https://ecaimansands.files.wordpress.com/2016/11/daisy-the-gator-1-us-election-nov-2016.png?w=605 Believe me, I wish Gator HAD run! I'm visiting the UK this year and am totally elated. I...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

I wonder. I may not physically be a mother but I do seem to have given birth to an awful lot of characters. Do they count, perhaps? wotf011 Depends. Did any of them send you a card? Phone call? Breakfast in bed? Of course, all the things I've done to my characters, I can hardly blame them for their...

Conceived of a plot and characters, carried them in your gut for over nine months, labored to produce them, given birth to a completed product... perhaps busting your tailbone in the process, nursed them at your breast....

Nawww. You deserve more than a card. You deserve a bloody trophy.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Cursive handwriting is an art form. I once saw a veterinary's bound ledger at a garage sale. It was filled with his observations of diseased animals and treatments... all handwritten in the most perfect cursive I've ever seen. No errors, nothing crossed out. Tiny. He was also a surgeon after all. I'...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

That was the nature of a Censor Beast. So why did this one look different? Did its movements lack the total apathy that usually accompanied its thorough destruction of any artistic creation? Of any risky idea? The set of its eyes, the bridge of its nose looked familiar. Too familiar. And she was cer...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 33

Here is a serious question. When you have a great story, how do you know if you've written it down? Attempted clarification : When I read the words of this great story I've written, it reads like a great story, but since I had clear ideas in my head to begin with, how do I know if the words I've wr...

Don't tell Bob, but Harrogate is in Yorkshire, like most things. Didn't know they grew tea in Harrogate. My screen is totally messed up. Many error messages and, on my reply screen, no delicious apples are shown.
This screen issue has been going on for some time now. Anyway, the next time I'm in England, I'll certainly try some. I'll pass on Gator's fare, though. I like my meat medium not rare.

The best is made with Golden Delicious apples with so much cinnamon, butter, and brown sugar the apples have this gooey brown sauce all over them... like an apple pie cinnabon. You cannot be serious! Golden Delicious? AKA commercial cardboard? Now Granny Smith's is a different proposition entirely....

I'd started on a story, but it ran over like a too full pie pan. I'm considering making it a novel. I think it has enough going on to work in the longer format... way too much for a short story. Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

I have the skeleton of a story which marries a well-accepted theoretical scientific principle with one that is (for the most part) totally debunked. I haven't seen these two put together before (and when I delve further into the principles of each, I may not either). It is as close as sea coral and ...
