Re: Success!
So it turns out I do have writing news after all. :)
I sold a story to Fireside Magazine today! No idea yet of when it will appear, but I'm really pleased this story found a home so soon, and to such a new-yet-respected market! Apparently playing with Greek mythology worked for them.

This isn't a sale, but I had a baby 11 days ago, and that was pretty successful. I still like her, too. Despite now having to type one-handed.

I made a semi-pro sale a couple weeks ago to Azure Keep Quarterly, so that was nice. I was glad my story found a home. :)

Re: No communication
The SASE take MUCH longer to be judged and returned. If you haven't received a response, email the contest coordinator, Joni - you can query about both your results and about your SASE.
Many people prefer to submit electronically - it's much easier on the judges as well.

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread
A thought, LD: Not that the five senses and the try-fail cycles aren't good, but not every editor wants the same thing, so if the story just doesn't want a certain element, don't feel obligated to put it in. I have a few stories that, based on story structure/style/etc will never* have a chance of w...

The Submissions Grinder is a brand-new website where you can find short story markets, and after you've submitted your story, you can 'track' it and get a better idea of when you might expect a reply. It's also a FREE website. If you feel like paying, you can mosey over to Duotrope, but the Submissi...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!
Welcome George! Isaac Asimov.... a few years ago I attempted to read a Foundation book but found it way to detailed (I like stories, not world building). There's actually very little world building in the Foundation series. I find the first two Foundation books to be the story of a civilization (or ...
