Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 35
Wow it's been a while since I posted here, but just wanted to pop in and say I've just submitted for the first time in over a year! Granted, it's only a revised story, but my hope is to keep going and at least submit another revised story for Q1. Still a long ways away from being better health wise,...

Re: ILLUSTRATORS' Q & A
Hi Yinny and welcome to the forum! Always nice to see another illustrator here as it can be very rare! I wish I could give you more insight into how results on the illustrator side of the contest works, but it's been very difficult to see any kind of pattern. The last time I submitted I never heard ...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!
Never got a chance to pop in here and say welcome to all the new forum members! I'm so glad the forum was finally fixed because it was so dead around here (but a good kind of dead as people won the contest or pro'd out). Still it's nice to see new faces and make new friends - just the kind of thing ...

Re: Introducing the New Illustration Workshops in 2017
I agree with Dustin I would love for this forum to become more active on the Illustrators side! As one of the rare members here who submits to the Illustrators I've always found it a challenge to find any advice, tips or experiences from fellow artists. I hope now that the sign up glitch on the foru...

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread
Ok either C.C. Finlay is some kind of power reading machine that plows through every story entry, or he must have really taken a liking to my work. I just got my second personal rejection from F&SF this month. I really hope this is a good sign, and he doesn't just read and critique all entries. ...

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread
Well I'm pretty excited. Just got a personal rejection from F&SF, and it's my first personal outside of Writers of the Future! I know it's technically still a rejection, but it makes me feel like people are finally starting to take notice of my writing.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29
I remember looking into this, seeing as how it happened a month before I joined the forum. I went back and tried to find what thread or post had more activity, thinking some crazy party had gone on here. But I found nothing. Usually things peak around here when resutls come out or the award show nig...

2 HMs is pretty good! I only have one more and I've been entering every quarter since December 2011. Don't forget your Semi! wotf013 I do love my 2 HM's though. Especially my second, because it validated that my first was not a fluke. wotf008 Still would have been nice to have gotten a phone call b...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29
I started lurking months before, but this quarter was my first entry in the contest. Only 2 volumes have come out since then, but it feels like I've been here forever. I thought my first post was actual in this thread but turns out it was my second post. My first was in the introduction thread. My s...

Thank you Martin, Elinor and Elen! Your encouragement and kind words have completely outdone all the negativity I have heard. Re: Five Minute Rant
Thanks Rebecca! At least everyone here has been so nice and congratulated me! I think other people that aren't writers just don't get it. They see writing as a chore, and can't see why I'd want to continue it. Oh and I can't believe I forgot to mention my favorite line that someone gave me after I t...

Re: Five Minute Rant
I guess you could call this a rant about words, and no I don't mean anything that has to do with the words I write. I'm talking about the words that come out of peoples mouths. I just got an HM from writers of the future, and most everyone I've told has been negative about it. They will say things l...

Re: First Four-Fifty Critique Exchanges
Beginnings have always been a weakness of mine, I feel I often have trouble "grounding" the reader, as Dave calls it. So before I go any further, I was hoping to get a few people to look over my first 450, and let me know if it's headed in the right direction. Please PM me if you'd like to...

Re: ILLUSTRATORS' Q & A
Ok I knew that later on I was going to realize how complicated I made things, when the question was simple!
What I'm trying to ask is - should the 8.5 x 11 be landscape or portrait? Silly me.

Re: ILLUSTRATORS' Q & A
Ok I've been trying to think of a way to ask this question without making it confusing, but I've been thinking about this so much that I feel like I'm not even making sense to myself! I'm probably over thinking this, but if I'm right, it could explain why my art was rejected when I entered years ago...
