Conga rats dancing for Jeremy, Ysocks, and Inky! Kudos to Jeremy as well for First Place! How long have you been entering, Jeremy? And what's your try/fail cycle? : ) Thanks Dustan! I first entered in 2013 and got an HM, then didn't enter again until about two years ago. I've entered every quarter ...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q2 - Volume 34

To those in the first wave, rejection sucks. Condolences. But it took courage to submit, and courage to stand with your peers and post your results. Especially if you're a first timer. The rest of us have gotten used to being stripped naked and washed down in front of the barracks with a firehose. I...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q2 - Volume 34

It never sprinkles notices. Like Morton Salt, when it rains, it pours. You'll know. : )

Eveyone will be saying, "Why are you crying?" And you'll reply, "I'm not crying, it's all this damn salt pouring down from the sky! Curse you, Morton!" : )

Saw Dawn Vogel, one of our forum members, at Norwescon, and she did a wonderful reading of her new novel, fun steampunk!

Rebecca Birch, I think I saw you in the room but I couldn't stay until the end. Sorry to miss you!

Next time!

Welcome aboard the board, new members! You'll find this is a friendly placce, and the best place to get any questions answered on the contest outside of Joni herself. Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 34

Rejection as well. Revised resub of HM didn't work for me. I fear the second time around feels too familiar to Dave, as a lot of the excitement to a story is the experience of "wow, this is new."

Best of success to those still in. Fortune favor the brave.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 34

Thanks for the advice on the SHM. I agree it would be good to get some feedback, just to see if there is a consensus on what might make the story stronger and thus a win. As to submitting it to pro markets, I did that with two of the fastest, F&SF being one of them, but honestly, other markets c...
