Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 36

He does give out Honorable Mentions, SHMs, semi finalists for those who don't reach the finalist stage. So far if he doesn't like a story no one does. I have heard the statement about it just not being a good fit for wotF but its been too long, that is no comfort for me. I have sent almost every ty...

Re: Q-4 story that most probably could use some help

I decided to try another story since this one seems to be one I sent in twice. And I have a third story in mind if this second one turns out to be totally rejected twice.

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 36

Hmm, evidently I have already sent the story I thought of using, twice. I must like that story. Even with critiques it got no where-twice. So I decided to do a different story. Still an older one I sent in once-I think only once-hmm now I am not sure. Anyway need new readers.

Know the feeling even though the comments don't happen often unless I send a story to BCS. You go get 'em. You can.

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 36

Got my Q4 tale done. Months ago. I already submitted it. Months ago. Nothing, yet I still like it and think it could fit in quite easily. But after, hopefully, a couple of critiques I can Improve it. I added a post in the Critique exchange but I ask here. We can trade critiques. We got time. One per...

Q-4 story that most probably could use some help

Got mine done already for 36 Q 4. Actually it was a story I sent in earlier but I like it, think it mighty fit in and so I will try it again. But it does need critiquing Somewhere around 6,500-ish. I will critique one of yours or two half sizes.

I used to do that and will again when I get back into the habit of sending out stories again, but I still get the need to vent sometimes.

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

Thinking about sitting and holding my breath. I have a story being held for consideration with an SFWA eligible market. Got one rejection from them and one hold. Eeek eeek eeeek. Exciting and lots of the mixed feelings. Hoping it will be selected, desperately trying to keep my feet realistically pl...

To continue then with my story: in 2012 I got rheumatoid arthritis, which basically feels like getting your ass kicked every day. The doctor’s treat that with chemo pills and opioids. So I didn’t skip the usual addiction. Also I was in the Marine Corps for 7 years. And I drank a lot. I haven’t had ...

I hadn't noticed that many people gone. By nice if that many won, at least to finalist. Supposedly I am writing a new book, rewriting-not revising rewriting-one I just finished not so long ago. Hmm, this one may just be less than 50,000 words. I know which story I will do for 4, already done actuall...

I think you’re putting too much pressure on yourself to get published. It’s sucking all the pleasure out of it. I feel that when you write, the prose should make you feel good. Like you took a drug or something. Or exercised. Chances are nobody’s ever going to pay for working out, but generally peo...

I’m not saying it’s easy to stay positive. And I’m only offering my experiences as motivation to other writers in hopes they’ll not let rejection crush them and give them pause when considering whether or not they should be writing. My long time discouragement and occasional whining does look diffe...

Re: Five Minute Rant

Besides the fact that I am out of the habit of sending out stories I think that the years of rejections help my subconscious to forget to remind me to send them out. But this one (Shakes head). Hmm, No one seems to use this anymore but me. But ugh. Trying to send out stories again. For some strange, unknown reason the online submission system that Asimov's and Analog use does not like my .doc files. Unless it is a flash story it is always too large-or so they say. I don't have that problem...
