Re: Five Minute Rant
It had been so long I forgot. The system that Analog, Asimov's and the two mystery mag, use for the online submissions does not like my version of .doc files. It always says it's too long no matter how short the story. With Asimov's I can use .rtf but my current WP doesn't do that format. I have an ...

Just wanted to say that I responded a day ago, but must have clicked the wrong button because it isn't here. Or it showed up on another thread. But among other things I said Thanks for the response.

For years that is how I wrote. I hardly ever typed out anything. A couple(literally) of times I tried I got stuck on which way the story should go, then it became too much like work.

Okay, I'll be doing it. And I think the story has been written already. A new one, never sent out.
I said I think because I still will be writing short stories and its possible that I will write one I I like better before the middle of June.

Re: Five Minute Rant
Been while since I have been here. I have been busy with Indie publishing books and writing them. And writing a few very short stories to pictures. All are under 600 words but many are 200 to 400 words. A couple around 100. Anyway, still learning to write and all that, which brings me to something I...

Three short stories needing a grammar check
An unusual request As some of you may know, because I have complained about, I have gotten out of the habit of sending out stories. Well, I have three right now that at least one editor likes, even though he isn't buying right now. So all three probably needs a grammar check and I and asking if anyo...

Re: Vol. 34 (2018) -- Anthology, Workshop, & Gala
Since for many reasons I haven't been hanging around here on the forum I didn't know who from here got to me on the show tonight. I caught one guy with long hair who mentioned the forum but they don't put up the names long enough to get more than a glance at them. Thought there might be more activit...

Re: Rules of Writing
Hmm, I have gathered a few over the years. Use active sentences, not passive sentences, use all five human senses in every major scene and intro and make sure the MC is changed some how, usually but not always use Show not Tell.

Always happy to help, Louis. Punt it over. I haven't punted yet because someone took a look at my story and sent a bunch of suggestions. I wanted to fix those things first. Then I got involved with my soon-to-be released novel and now I need to spend quality time on my story this week. Depending on...

Been a while since I have been here. Mainly because I haven't been sending out stories. And that is what this rant is about. Got half a dozen new stories with one to three times they have been sent out, but I am so far out of the habit I just don't think about it when I have the time. Ugh, I know my...

I could use another check over on mine between 6,000 and 6,600 words. And it is sort of, kind of, well its just plain speculative.

I'll be down for an exchange in a week or so. Started working on my Q2 sub in earnest and should have something ready by then. Hmm, just saw I had responses here. The site is suppose to send me an E-mail when that happens-or does it send E-mails still? Anyway, I have one person to look over my stor...

Right now I'm reading the third book in the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson. I absolutely loved the first 2 and this is growing to be one of my favorite series of all time. I'm going to continue reading Sanderson books after this, apparently they're all connected. I like that series too but I ...

Story for Q2 Volume 35 needs exchange
This thread doesn't have any new posts but I figure I would give it a try anyway.
A 5500 to 6999 word spec story could use a check over.

Okay, just redid the opening a bit for that story I thought about resubmitting. Found some repeat words I should have replaced earlier. Moved a sentence closer to the first paragraph and split up a rather long one and one or two are clearer now.

Hmm thought about redoing the opening of one story Dave recently rejected another editor thought the story worked for him. Most of been a reason Dave rejected so completely in the opening I am assuming.

I know of some editors even though they cost. I could give you E-mail or web pages addresses. But I have need for a beta reader or two. One for a novel just sitting there for a month or two, revised and everything, and one for a novel I will be finishing very shortly, if I can get the very end the w...

First time I had to send it in via E-mail too. I found it closed at 4:08 PM Pacific Time. I used the same address as Morgan. Never did get it back from my beta reader. He turned out to be exceptionally busy. But as it turns out that was okay. I did some major revising on the first three to four page...

My personal rejection from him was the same, and I keep it in my email inbox for when I'm feeling like a fraud. If one of the big editors could take time to give me feedback, I shouldn't give up, neh? I would be interested if there was something special about that signature too! Hmm, I need to get ...

Been awhile since I was here. But I did NaNo and thirty short stories.
My story for this quarter is at a beta reader and since I rushed the ending a little I suspect it might need some work-as if the whole thing won't need significant work

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 35
Hmm, the other day I was thinking of this next quarter. I am working on the story for it. I may or may not use. Actually I also had the thought to use a flash tale I write recently and add to it. With more details in the back story and deeper into the MC's mind and something else maybe so.
