Re: Wulf Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge!

Has anyone else noticed the word count discrepancy in different writing software? I was using GoogleDocs and had a word count at 16,990. But in OpenOffice it was 17,234 and 17,136 In Word. I guess the question is:

Is Word considered the industry standard?

Re: Discussion: Q1 Volume 37

I'm in! After some last-minute crunching, I got my story in. It ended up being my beefiest one yet, but I really love it!

Good luck, y'all!

Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge!

So the question is, those of you working a day job 50+ hours a week, how do you schedule your writing time? How much time do you spend on the myriad activities that we HAVE to fit in? What tricks work best for you? Hey Tony! Before my current situation (which is more flexible), I caught the first b...

Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge!

I'm sorry I'm so behind on the Wulf Pack assignments. I have every intention of keeping up, although I know I haven't been posting like it. I have signed into The Submission Grinder (awesome I must say), started reading the cover letter article, and have read, Never Let Go ('Belief is a powerful thi...

Re: Discussion: Q1 Volume 37

I'm in on the '4 in 37!' I just got my Q1 submission back from its substantive edit and will have it back to my editor around the end of November for the final edit. I'm doing the Wulf Pack Challenge, so I'm also nailing down my 2nd story for publication submission. As a note on editors: I used an e...

You made it, Dutson! Glad I pulled you out of your chair at the bar and sobered you up with some wake-up juice. : ) WHAT WAS IN THAT WAKE-UP JUICE ANYWAY?! I've had energy drinks with less kick. :D [insert gif of Inigo Montoya coming out of the water tank: "That's enough. THAT'S ENOUGH!"]...

Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge!

As a suggestion for some of our 1st quarter second submissions, I suggest the Jim Baen Memorial Short Story Award. Write a short story of no more than 8,000 words, that shows the near future (no more than about 50-60 years out) of manned space exploration. No entry fee. Due February 1st. For more in...

After much internal debate:

"Yes!"
"No!"
"Yes!"
"No!"
"Shut your noise, you. And get that suit on!"

I have decided to follow my compadres into battle by JOINING Wulf's Super Secret Brigade. "Once more unto the breach, dear friends!"

The podcast is awesome! I've chewed through every one of them--some twice or more. I've even been surprised to find the illustrator interviews to be inspiring.

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Hi all, I'm Tony Dutson and plan on writing under A.V. Dutson. I use to write short fiction in high school and even went through the first creative writing course they offered. After that, well, I thought writing was just a hobby and needed to be tucked away in lieu of work and family. Fast forward ...
