Re: Wulf Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge!

Well, you could simply keep practicing. On your own. By the time you write 500,000 to one million words, you’re going to learn a few things. Especially if you’ve been reading well-written stories along the way, and have also been reading good books on craft It's almost like you're looking over my s...

Re: What kind of story is, "Lost Robot?"

What drew WotF to publish it? Dean Wesley Smith is a WotF winner and a name to attract more readers for the WotF winners. IMHO that statement says it all. The stories being accepted in the contest now have to satisfy what the sitting judges want to see. Dean Wesley Smith has sold at least 200 novel...

Re: Wulf Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience Liz. I enjoyed every word. He not only remembered my story--he remembered that I’d written other stories with those same characters in the past. I have recently started giving my characters repeat parts in my stories, it's actually a lot of fun.

Re: Use of italics for emphasis

I use italics a lot. When I have an MC that does telepathic communication the words are italicized.
I've read stories by published authors that have done the same.
Once the reader knows what is happening it's easy to follow, as long as it is consistent with the flow of the story.

Thanks for this. I got my nice rejection notice for my entry but no newsletter and it’s not the clearest site to find their prompts on. I never received a rejection notice. I found out I was out of the running when I got the newsletter with the winning stories. They were good stories, I read both w...

Re: Wulf Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge!

1. Do most writers map out their career path, or do they simply “follow their heart?” They follow their heart. 2. Why might it be good to map out your career goals? You might fail at traditional publishing. David outlines one of the clearest writer paths I’ve ever seen. Let’s take a look at it. THE ...

Re: Wulf Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge!

Good afternoon Leah. I've done the Blood Sucker prompt including the reduction to 500 and 249. My plan is to do all the Monday prompts and the two fresh stories every quarter for the year. That's a total of 60 stories for the year. This is definitely an attainable goal. I'm also editing my first nov...

Re: Novel Structure - About Turning Points

I'm in the process of editing my first attempt at producing a novel. After reading your question I reread some of my chapter breaks. So far I end my chapter with a conclusion of an ongoing action, that is a lead-in for the next one hoping to keep the reader engaged and anticipating the story arc. Th...

I had not really thought about the possibility of losing my data. I may need to have a backup. A couple of years ago I lost my laptop to ransomeware. Re: Wulf Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge!

Hi Leah,
I had a very productive morning. I wrote a 1,080 word story to the Wolf Moon prompt, reduced it to exactly 500 and submitted that to a pro-paying ezine as flash. Then I reduced it to 250.
Are the results of these exercises considered 1 or 3 stories since they are different? wotf017
