Re: pseudonyms

Growing up I was Donnie to family and friends. George Harrison named his son Dhani and I like that spelling.

My mothers maiden name was Beck. I came up with a pen name of Dhani Beck I plan to use in the future.

That should move my books closer to the front than they will be with my given name.

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 36

Lately I seem to put a lot of thinking into the next writing session. By the time I take a seat I have a good idea where the story is going and I get a lot done. I'm far enough along with my Q4 that I have to bring it to a satisfying ending.

Dave's email for today mentions Anne McCaffrey. No initials there and one of the greatest female writers ever IMHO. If any of you have never read her Pern series you have something to look forward to. Especially if you like dragons.

I read a post about Dave getting a review where the reader made the comment that Wolverton could be found on the last shelf at the end of the last row. That was unacceptable. I believe that Farland is his mother's maiden name.

There was a magazine in the past, Penumbra, that more than a few forumites subbed to. They asked writers to follow a prompt. I agree with the judges about the usefulness of the idea.

Re: The Writers of the Future Podcast at Dragon Con

I've listened to 15 minutes of the podcast and there is definitely room for improvement. The only author I was sure of knowing who was being introduced was Brandon Sanderson. The narrator could have said the names in a clockwise manner giving me a better chance at knowing who is talking. Just my inp...

I usually have more than one story percolating. I also use a whiteboard to help keep track of prompts and possible titles. Wow! Garden of the Gods brings back memories from my time at Ft. Carson. Some friends and I would spend our days hang-gliding from the cliffs in the park. That was after an accident got us banned from the base.

But joking aside I'd have to consider Robert Jordan's/ Brandon Sanderson's Wheel Of Time, all fifteen volumes.
