Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge! Vol. 36

Don't recall if it was re-posted, but this is an idea of the value of WotF. https://bradrtorgersen.wordpress.com/2010/08/31/the-value-of-writers-of-the-future-looking-back-at-my-time-with-the-contest/ Very enlightening. I had no idea all of those things happened for the winners. A must read for all...

Re: How Fast Should a Space Station Rotate?

Now that's a really good question. Picture three rings, the middle ring is set at earth-normal. The inner ring would spin slightly faster therefore gravity would exert a little more pull. If you wanted a more intense workout you'd be there. The outer ring would be easier on the physique so it would ...

Re: Reading vs writing

I just finished reading Algis Budry's Writing to the Point. Very good stuff.
I plan to read it again while taking notes the second time through.
My five-point plan has now expanded to seven. That is what I learned from his lesson.

I'm with you on that one. I think the earliest submission for me was with one day to spare.

I have a story I could finish with minimal effort but I'm in no hurry.

I'm reading a book by Algis Budry to expand my level of ability.

Re: Discussion: Q2, Volume 36

I took the first chapter of my first attempt at a novel and turned it into an HM. It is over 65,000 words as of today.
With the world built I have the option to write a series of books. So get that novel started, the beginning might be good enough to get you some recognition. wotf008

You've definitely illuminated this forum. And as tgitg pointed out you'll be lighting up the stage in a couple of months.

My turn for reading Algis Budry's Writing to the point came up on the Open Library. I'm sure I'll read it more than once.

You could write one of those nlp's into existence. The first 17,000 words or less might be good enough to get a win.
At the very least you will have started something new.

It's funny that you say that. In my hm most of the characters bit the dust one after the other.

That being said, Morgan's' advice is spot on. Signing up for Dave's daily emails is very helpful too. He tells you what he looks for in a story.
