Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Well, here goes. Hi, my name is Kim, and I found out about Writers of the Future a few months ago. I haven't submitted yet, but I've got a story in the works right now (which I really should be working on...) that I intend to get in for the end of this current quarter. After that, it is my intentio...

Re: Writers of the Future asks for your podcast input.

Sure. Advice/feedback from the judges and especially the first reader/slush pile person. Like old darth, I'd like to hear from the judges re what tipped the balance between a good story and one just so so. The threshold of standard between HM, SHM, SF, F, and winners. Also, common mistakes made by ...

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 35

Anyone care to speculate what place you'll receive? ...yes, I know some y'all will view this as sick or perhaps cruel.... But let's roll with it. In the past three months, I've gone from thinking "I'm sure to win"... To "I'll be lucky to get HM". Now, I'm thinking SF. Reason: my ...

Feedback on a 900 word prologue

Hi there. Does anyone have time to look over 900 words for me? It’s the prologue to a novel, so not for WOTF. In short, I’m looking to get your impressions. Is the prologue compelling enough for a person to keep reading? Is the pacing feel alright? Do the prose flow alright? So, nothing too intense....

I've driven the east cost from the Townsville to Melbourne and then west into South AU. I even worked Buller Mt ski fields when I was younger.

OK. I guess I'm a few months behind in the news... I didn't realize that V34 winner Darci Stone is married to Erik James Stone! I remember reading Erik's story, "That Leviathan, Whom Thou Hast Made" years ago. It stood out to me as a story that flowed effortlessly. I don't say that lightly...
