Re: Wulf Moon's SUPER SECRET Workshop & Challenge!

I'm just doing some ast minute edits to the denouement for my 2nd story for the quarter. I mean I've written it but feels like the voice isn't write. In the rest of the story I've used a lot of free indirect discourse to flavor the MC's voice with frustration. But now that that's over, the voice sou...

We'll see! Judging may happen sooner, but as Joni is the one who makes the calls and sends the emails...I'm not too sure how much sooner she'd be able to do it. They're already working on trying to reschedule for late summer/early fall, plus trying to create an online art reveal and book signings f...

Re: Stories where the inner journey is primary and outer journey is secondary

Hi Liz – As always, you have good sound advice. wotf009 • trying for a balanced approach • consider what makes a strong internal & external journey • the journeys themselves need to be more thoroughly explored • clarity is important I appreciate that! This wasn’t a deliberate formula. I just rea...

Stories where the inner journey is primary and outer journey is secondary

I’ve recognized trends in my story structures lately and common mistakes that I’m making in them. These are stories where MC’s inner journey is primary and outer journey is secondary. (Most stories reverse the emphasis). In these stories MC has a desire (subjective) and goal (objective). MC believes...

Re: Volume 36 Workshop and Gala Postponed

A lot of the judges are in or approaching the more vulnerable age categories. It's good that they're not being asked to choose between their health and their devotion to mentoring the next generation of writers, but oh, how frustrating for you winners. I'm so sorry this happened in your year! Very ...

This is the success thread; all success is welcome! Share away when it's ready. wotf007 I will! I had a lot of fun with that one. Re: Wulf Moon's SUPER SECRET Workshop & Challenge!

Thanks Wulf and zeeteebeez. Lately all of my stories have had much heavier emphasis on MC's inner journey (growth and change) than on his/her outer journey. In fact, I design my outer journey to deliberately prod at the MC's inner desire/yearning. I want the outer journey to pick the desire apart an...

Re: Wulf Moon's SUPER SECRET Workshop & Challenge!

I can’t find the post (somewhere on the page above) where someone asked about a character’s heart’s desire changing in the story. I don’t recall if anyone has addressed this. Anyway, I say yes. It happens to real people all the time, and thus, it’s reasonable in a story. But, be mindful that it may ...
