Re: Analog Submissions
I agree. We can expect an acceptance or rejection. Within a reasonable length of time. I don't take it personally. I'm sure they have no idea who I am. I've sent stuff off to pretty much everyone - and they're the only ones who have come off distinctly unprofessional... yet they're the biggest of th...

Re: Analog Submissions
I disagree. I think that, as soon as you ask for exclusivity, which is what no sim subbing means, you have entered into trust with that party. As such I believe they owe their contributors the best service they can manage. Incompetence doesn't excuse poor service. If they can't keep their end of the...

Re: Analog Submissions
Well, I got no response at all. I still haven't heard a thing.
My email to them wasn't rude. I think they owe me a few words. I think even "Fuck off" would be better than the silence.

Hi Ishmael,
I asked if you were English because we Brits have a similar sense of humour. I'm from Hampshire myself.
I'll trawl back and have a look at your Analog Adventure.

Re: Analog Submissions
I think all sane writers operate that way. But I am not responding to a rejection. I am responding to bad manners. I hate the one sided nature of their system.

Re: Analog Submissions
Come across that way? How does it come across to keep hold of someone's work for three hundred days and then reject it without telling them? I couldn't care less how I come across because there is no way I can look less professional than they do. They have a computerised system that takes and orders...

Re: Analog Submissions
Yeah, they sent me a rejection the other day. :( False optimism. I sent it to Asimov's because it is character based. Where did you send yours?

Re: Analog Submissions
I have the story back now. That's what matters. I still think it is a great story, so I should be able to sell it somewhere. I'm just waiting for that break to give me my first pro-sale.
I hope they send me a rejection or response with a little character now. I really will frame it.

Re: Analog Submissions
Sod it. Decided to have some fun with them. Dear Editors, I feel compelled to write you a short note to express my disappointment to discover my story, which I queried three times about over its 300 day vacation in the Analog Vaults, has now been rejected without so much as a form rejection. After s...

Re: Analog Submissions
I have written and deleted a moderately worded email. I will have to see whether this irritation persists. This story was the first thing I ever subbed. I sent it, well, you can work it out, back in June. Luckily, since then I've subbed a lot of other things and had some success, but if I hadn't, th...

Re: The Three Hundred
I waited two days for each word of my story The outcomes were just a little bit gory I wrenched out my heart with a wandering noun Then painted my guts all over the town "Enough!" I cried, tears streaming my face Then shot myself off into deep space I died out there, knowing my life was a ...
