Re: Tim Power's "Power Reading List"

This is a great list for enjoyment. It makes me cry because I like most of what's on it a lot better than most of what's being published today. My tastes are so dated. I would add, anyone who is reading through this for a sort of history of the genre, put C.L Moore on your list. Her "Northwest ...

We got to take home the framed prints they revealed for us! Mine is on the wall in my library, and I love it.

We won't see anything this week. Workshop/Gala week. Probably not next week either since they'll be in recovery mode! So get a cool glass of lemonade, kick back, and start planning your Q3 entry!

Re: What's a Silver Honorable Mention as opposed to a regular HM?

Dave mentioned recently (at a convention) that SHM are often stories that need just one more pass by the author to tighten or fix things, in order to bring them up to Finalist quality. He definitely encouraged re-submissions of SHMs after that work is done.

Our late, lamented Dr. Phil scored everything but a win, including a Published Finalist. I kept rooting for him for that win. He could've been published far more, but his teaching was too important to him. Fiction had to fit around that. Dr. Phil was special. I wish he'd gotten that win, but he lef...

RSchibler is correct on both points. Why not try doing NaNoWriMo in November? If by some chance you haven't heard of it, check out NaNoWriMo.org, but it's essentially a challenge to "write a book in November". Granted they define "book" as "50,000 words" which is fairly short for a novel, but it's a ton of...

Reading through vol 33, I'm surprised by the short length of these stories. I might even call it a trend... Yeah, it is interesting.
