Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 36

*Brings the marshmallows* Well, my last submission was disqualified due to me forgetting to delete the byline from the manuscript. Can't get worse than that, right? ;)

Re: A Word Re: Revisions

Wulf, I did not mean my post as an attack. I thought I was being fair by sharing when I thought writing new stories was good. I apologize my intentions were not clear. I am not asking for an end to the super secret challenge, but I do feel like there is a bias on this forum against revision that pre...

A Word Re: Revisions

It's been a long time since I've been on the forum, due to life and password issues. To be honest, I'm glad I took a break, because if I had been active, I would have been ticked off by Wulf Moon's constant pressure to write FRESH ORIGINAL STORIES. Is it good to write new stories? Absolutely. Workin...

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 35

R for me. It's the third in a row, which hurts after the HM and SHM I've gotten. So since this one hasn't gotten any critical feedback at all, it's off to critters I go.

Whew. The only reason I submitted this quarter was this goal. I didn't get the chance to get this story critiqued, so it may still be horribly confusing, but I like it.

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 35

Revisions are coming together, so it looks like I'll have something to submit. It just won't be as polished as I would like, especially since I haven't had time to get any critiques.

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 35

No one wants to admit it, huh? Fine, I will. I got a rejection. Flash fiction, so wasn't expecting it to do well, but I hoped.

Off to find a more suitable market.

Re: Four in Thirty-Five (4 in 35!)

I'm not sure my story is going to be ready in time. It's taking several rewrites to get right. If I miss this quarter, it will be the first time in 3 years. Guess I should get back into it and see what I can do.

Re: Discussion - Q2 - Volume 35

Is there a difference between honorable mention and silver honorable mention? What does silver honorable mention even mean? how many get it? How many entrants? Still super stoked since I didn't even realize how big this contest was when I entered this Q2 for the first time ever. So excited. Wonder ...

Almost finished collecting beta reader reactions for Q3 and then it'll be a final edit before submitting.
And I just got a shiny new idea that makes me more excited that what I was previously thinking for Q4. Time to get writing!

Re: Discussion - Q2 - Volume 35

I had the first page of this story critiqued at futurescapes, and people bounced off the first line, which I thought was cool. wotf005

Going to go work on something else to distract myself from wanting to mess with this story.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 35

I got an HM, which is a step down from the SHM this story got last year. But I haven't seen any other silvers this quarter, so maybe there just weren't any? Anyway, I just got feedback on a different story that tells me how to fix this one. So I'm going to rewrite it and submit it again... probably ...

Yeah, $4 a month does sound steep. You can get it as low as $3 a month if you buy in bulk.
At least the trial costs nothing (not even putting in a credit card). Definitely worth doing.

4thewords

Anyone here use 4thewords? I've been trying it out for the last month, and it has really increased my productivity with writing. For those who don't know - it is a site that gamifies your writing. You battle monsters, complete quests, and level up all based on the number of words you write. My refer...

Just met my goal of 25 rejections for the year. Still have 4 outstanding, and I'll probably send this one back out once I figure out the next place its going.
Out of that I got 6 personals, which is more than last year! Yay progress!

A lot of my story ideas have come from playing video games and wanting to take things a different direction than they did. Such as "What if Zelda was jealous that Link found the Master Sword?"

I think I've had 10 unique stories. 11 if you count the rewrite that only left the magic system and character names in place. Plot and characterization were different. Completely different tone to the setting too.
