Re: Jibber Jabber - Q4 - Volume 33

Don't think I'm going to have anything ready this Quarter. Shooting for next at this point. J'nae Me either. My current story has potential but all the feedback makes it clear it needs more work and which I agree with. Much as I hate missing a quarter, hate sending out something not ready for prime...

Re: Brandon Sanderson - 318R

Thanks! Brandon Mull was at When Words Collide in Calgary a couple of years ago. He was full of energy and very entertaining to listen to. It's a great series of lectures. The quality of the recordings has increased each year and Sanderson has become much more comfortable - and organized - with the ...

I also like the book, Self-Editing for Fiction Writers. This one gets into the little details. wotf018 Totally forgot to mention that one! Thanks for posting about it Laurie! Yes it's an excellent resource as it provides a great checklist for second drafts and polishing. It also ties in to Shawn Co...

Harlan Ellison is one of the few short story writers I'm aware of who made a go of it besides Bradbury.

Re: What are a couple of things that have improved your writ

Top things that have helped me: Personal habits: 1) Reading - first as a fan and then as a student. Finding works I like and then finding out why I like them. 2) Writing - making it a habit so that it's part of my daily routine 3) Finishing stories - without a completed piece it's impossible to see ...
