Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 36

I just looked back, and I guess I forgot to say that I submitted to Q4 on September 29th...just thought I'd better get that in before we get results or something wotf019

In 2017, my Q4 results arrived on November 6th, so we're already in the window of possibility!

Re: Success!

I made a collection of nearly all of my published stories, and for the first time, I'm trying out a paperback version too! I learned a lot of things about how books are put together along the way--I did all of the cover/interior design/layout, and there were some frustrating moments while I tried to...

Re: Tor.com opening for novella submissions

Thanks for letting me know you got a response--and quite a while ago too! I did submit on the last or second to last day, so my story might just be at the bottom of the pile. I don't think I'm in any sort of hold pile because my number is over 150 in the queue, and I can't imagine that they're holdi...

Re: Tor.com opening for novella submissions

Did anyone here submit a novella to Tor.com's open call last summer? If so, are you still waiting for a response or did you hear back already? They have a queue with numbers, but my number hasn't changed for about two months and it has been over a year since I submitted, so I'm just trying to get a ...

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 36

I love when people have data to crunch! I'll add some crunchy data: The earliest I've ever heard back on Q3 is August 17th (and that's not a fluke because I also got results on the 18th for another Q3), and the latest was November 10th (that one might be a bit of an outlier, but I did get results N...

Re: Discussion: Q2, Volume 36

If someone submits their Q4 this coming week, they might even have three in queue. I'm starting to twitch, though it's like a murmur right now. Think it was Beth Powers that wrote earlier in this thread that she had had responses for previous Q2s come back through end of July. So we could still be ...

Re: Discussion: Q2, Volume 36

Looking at recent prior years, Q2 results have come out anytime late May to early July. Is there any info out there that might narrow that window? I checked my numbers, and I've gotten results as early as May 19th (that was in 2008) and as late as Sept 13th (I'm a little suspicious of this one, but...

Re: Discussion: Q1 Volume 36

And don't discount weekends! I got at least one of my finalist calls on a Saturday morning. Yep, and I've never gotten higher than an HM, so that might have impacted my stats too! wotf007 It looks like for two of the last three Q1s, I've submitted on the last day (as I did this year), and I've gott...

Re: Discussion: Q1 Volume 36

How many stories is 900 submissions? According to the Submission Grinder, I have 47 different pieces, but that might not be completely accurate because when I revise to the point that I consider it a new story and change the title, I create a new piece for tracking purposes. I've decided to focus o...

Re: Discussion: Q1 Volume 36

If anyone felt like doing some analysis on the results days over the last few years, though, I for one would be interested! Actually, this is a thing I track (sometimes, my submitomancy goes pretty in-depth!). I don't have it broken down by year, but since V27Q3, which was in 2010 (probably when I ...

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 35

I forgot to check in here, but I got the first pass email on September 10th (I submitted on June 30th). I also just realized it's almost the end of the quarter, so I'd better get something lined up. Looks like I'm not going to achieve my goal of not submitting at the last minute this time either....
