Re: Discussion: Q1 Volume 38
In 2015, I received results on January 28th, so even without a delayed anthology/gala, there's no predicting it! Aside from one outlier, my longest Q1 results arrived on April 26th (in 2016).

Re: Supporting each other on Social Media and Websites - Post your Handles and Links
I'm not very active on any social media, but I do have them (and keep them updated with any important news!) Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Beth-Powers/388321331259356 (since I use FB as a page rather than a profile, it frequently won't let me do things like comment on other people's posts,...

Re: Goals four V.38!
So my goal for V38 is going to be to draft my Q2 by the Q1 deadline, and Q3 by the Q2 deadline, and so on. That should give me some extra time to get feedback and revise before the actual deadlines. I just wanted to report in that I maybe probably accomplished my first V38 goal, which was to draft ...

Thanks! I was starting to feel like I couldn't get past the HM, but this one is going to give me incentive to figure out what I did and try to do it again in the next story

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 37
Beth, so let me get this straight . . . five years of Novembers and 3 years of Decembers? You've been submitting for eight or more years now? Wait. 2011 was a January. That makes it almost ten years or more. wotf015 wotf009 Actually, that was just the electronic submissions (I didn't keep track of ...

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 37
I once got a Q4 response on October 30th (in 2013)! But before you twitch, I've also gotten a Q4 response on January 4th (in 2011, a different judge, and the early days of online submissions), but most of them have been in November (5 of them) and a few in December (3 of them). Last year, it was nea...

Re: Analog Rejectomancy?
I've been wondering this about Deep Magic too. Since I first learned of it here on the WoTF forum I wondered if anyone here knows much about it and response times etc. Been watching progress on Submission Grinder but I know better than to put too many hopes on what I see there :) I've had responses...

Hi Beth. I'm new to the forums and curious if the response data you mentioned is something I'm also supposed to be keeping track of for myself? Hi mandycorine! Welcome to the forum! The response data I mentioned is just me keeping track of various statistics related to my submissions (here and else...

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 37
I looked back over my Q3 response data, and I thought it was weird that in 10 years of electronic submissions, I've only ever gotten results in October once (2 in August (!), 5 in September, and 2 in November). I hope this year adds to that October count!

Re: Goals four V.38!
I've always tried to focus on making my writing goals things that I can control (writing and submitting), rather than the things that I can't (acceptances, winning, etc.), but I like the idea of thinking about what I can do that could potentially affect the outcome in a positive way. I haven't misse...

Re: Discussion: Q2 Volume 37
I've been submitting since the days of paper subs, so I have lots of data to draw from wotf008 Here's my weekday stats: Monday = 8 Tuesday = 8 Wednesday = 10 Thursday = 7 Friday = 4 Saturday = 2 Sunday = 0 Of my nine Q2 submissions, 5 have received responses in July (the rest were May and June). Re: The Grinder vs. Duotrope
Alex, Beth, I had not really thought about the possibility of losing my data. I may need to have a backup. I used to have a spreadsheet until I found Grinder. Had Duotrope for a while but never really used it--I just wanted to see what it was like. I like Grinder better. Particularly the chart and ...

Re: The Grinder vs. Duotrope
I know a pro published writer who doesn't use Grinder or Duotrope and have seen blog posts of others who use their own system to track submissions and rejections. I have my own system so even if I used Grinder or Duotrope to find markets, I probably wouldn't use them for tracking. I don't trust onl...

Smashwords is having an End of Year Sale, and even though the year has ended, the sale continues until 11:59pm PT on January 1st. You can get my collection Sorcery & Widgets for half off until the sale ends, and I'm sure there are lots of other good deals as well!
