Re: Discussion: Q2, Volume 36

Got my submission in on March 28th, a few days early for once. Now, back to work on my submission for the Baen Fantasy Adventure Award due at the end of the month...

Re: Discussion: Q1 Volume 36

Glad I'm not the only one who's been checking his e-mail all week. Managed to get an honorable mention for the first time during last year's Q4. Hoping to do better in Q1 and Q2 this year!

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

If the comments you get are from the Editor-in-Chief rather than the assistant editors, then you know you made it past the slush to the second round. One of my stories from back in June received a rejection from Mr. Andrews, whereas the others have come from the assistant editors. That particular h...

Re: F&SF has a new editor--and now does e-subs!

Great news! I just submitted a flash piece to them. Looking forward to attempting some longer pieces, as well. Much nicer to do it electronically than physically mailing.

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

I've had 5 form and 3 personal rejections from Strange Horizons since 2008; all three personals were this year. My writing seems to be at that aggravating stage where it's good enough to get lots of personal rejections from top magazines, but not good enough to actually get published by those magaz...

Re: Inscription Magazine

I submitted a YA fantasy story to them back on August 8th, and haven't heard anything since. I suppose no news is good news, but according to Duotrope they haven't sent out any rejections/acceptances since October 17th, so maybe they're just backlogged. Hopefully with being temporarily closed to sub...

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

18-day personal rejection from Strange Horizons yesterday. They made some positive comments about the content of the story, so it was an actual personal rejection (unlike the Shimmer rejections mentioned above). A HM for WotF should certainly be considered a 'personal' rejection. You're in (roughly...

I'll second that sentiment. Very informative article, and very inspiring.

FictionMuse, thank you for posting a link to this! And Mike Resnick, thank you for the excellent information!

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Greetings, all! Been a long time lurker on this forum as well as a few other Writers' boards, but I can lurk no longer! I write fantasy with a mix of science fiction, steampunk, and whatever other speculative fiction suits my fancy. I can't say I write any of the "suits my fancy" genres al...
