Re: How Short Is Too Short?

They don't list a minimum. But I would hazard a guess a drabble would be a no, flash would likely be a hard sell for winning. Good question as to what is the shortest story to win.

Re: Writer's Group

It wasn't their cloud I was concerned with on that, it was there word processor. Though it does seem they have changed it. Everyone seems to say not to use Google Docs on the answer sites. When looking further, it seems though it looks OK it has formatting errors and can't handle more than 100 pages...

Re: Writer's Group

Do we have to use Google Docs? Have they removed the 'we own a % of what you create with it' clause from the Terms of Service? I have a fully functional copy of Word, and I reluctantly put things on Dropbox as it is, as I don't like Cloud storage at all.

Hhhmmm. Might work then. Last time I used Slack, I wasn't thrilled with it. But, if they've improved it, that could be good.

Re: Success!

Ok; it has likely been a year since I have posted on this forum. I am attempting to balance family time, writing, and time on various forums. My first ebook was illustrated by a friend and posted to the Draft to Digital Web site. The book is about 200 pages containing 4 short stories about heroes w...

I wonder how much longer us email subs get to twitch. I suspect only people here in the forum are emailed, and there's a fair amount of them. I wonder how many people still mail in.

Re: Success!

I signed the contract and the editor said it was safe to share, so here we go: Mad Scientist Journal put out a call for classified ads and are planning to publish my submission in March 2018. It's a 180ish word fictional classified ad, so I'm not sure if that falls into flash or an even smaller cat...

We call it twitching. We all get more twitchy the longer it's been since the close of the Quarter. Especially after results start showing up on the Grinder.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 34

Well, the feedback I got from everybody convinced me even more it's a longer piece, so I'm definitely not making it in this quarter. I don't even know if when done it will still be within word count for this contest.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 34

Don't know if I'll make it in this quarter. I've submitted to my writer's group to get feedback, but I know I rushed the ending. In the end It might make into the next if I can keep it in the max word count. It seems to want to be at least a long novelette at it's shortest the more I think about it....

Re: V34 Q1 Analysis and Discussion

If someone is really looking for advice, they should read Dave's Daily Kicks. He's the coordinating judge, and he gives writers all the advice they need. Generally, I think writing advice from novices can steer one rapidly down any number of rabbit holes. But if we're giving out novice advice, here...
