My HM was about that, but I didn't realize that was the heart of the story until I tried turning it into a novel. It's probably lucky I got the HM without getting my focus right to begin with.

Re: Four in Thirty-Five (4 in 35!)

I considered hedging my bet and not submitting my Q4 short story. I could continue editing it for 3 months and submit it for Q1 V35!!! But I didn't. I hunkered down, polished it the best I could by midnight WotF time and hit SUBMIT. So, now I have to...you know...do the work a writer does, and begin...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q4 - Volume 34

I've been out of the WotF game for a while, working on a novel, but I'm back. I've missed checking in on all of you. When I saw the 4 in 35! post on the Forum, I thought it was the perfect excuse to wait to submit, but my critique group gave me the "A Dead Line Is A Dead Line" speech. They...

Re: Four in Thirty-Five (4 in 35!)

I've been missing in action but I'm ready to take the plunge again! 4 in 35! looks like the perfect place to start. wotf024 Now, I just have to decide if this older story that I planned to give the Quickie Edit and shove into Q4 V34 at the last minute would be better kept for Q1 V35 with a more thor...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q4 - Volume 33

No wotf005 I fretted and fretted and pulled out an old story and polished it. When I tried to enter it the site was down, and I was too nervous to go through the "Is my submission actually submitted, again?" So, I decided to add a frame story to make it a more viable entry and will submit ...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 33

It’s been a week since I’ve seen any postings about Q3 HMs or SHMs. Alas, I’ve yet to hear anything about my entry. I can think of only three reasons for this: my entry got lost, decisions are still being made, or I’m a finalist. To you lucky people who’ve been finalists, how long does it typically...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 33

This afternoon, after allowing a narrow beam of light under the table with me for comfort,
my inner nag said, "You know, nobody's looking for you. They probably just lost your submission."

And *Poof* just like that, the light was gone, and the dark descended once more.

Thursday, October 13, 11:30 am Central Time. The above was written in Cuneiform on the back of a fortune cookie. On the front was written in English, "Duck." On my beefy waiter's forehead the tattoo of a red button read, "Don't push me." It is an Omen of the Utmost Import! I sha...
