Re: First Four-Fifty Critique Exchanges
My Q4 story is nowhere near started yet, but I'll be happy to exchange 450 critiques with anyone this quarter. So PM/email me if you have one ready, and I will send mine as soon as I have something written!

Re: Success!
I signed the contract and the editor said it was safe to share, so here we go: Mad Scientist Journal put out a call for classified ads and are planning to publish my submission in March 2018. It's a 180ish word fictional classified ad, so I'm not sure if that falls into flash or an even smaller cat...

Re: Limitation of nonexclusive electronic rights
Hi orbivillein, I agree with you on the importance of marketing and the benefit to having work available for free online. I'm curious what you think of a writer self-publishing a work after terminating the grant of non-exclusive electronic rights for the work. The way I see it, the writer then has t...

Re: Limitation of nonexclusive electronic rights
I agree with your sound advice. And I wasn't intending to rule out the top tier magazines. =) Tor.com pays well enough that it's probably worth giving up a lifetime of reprints. Assuming the reprint rate is 1 cent/word, I'd have to reprint a story 19 times after an initial pub with BCS to match the ...

Re: Limitation of nonexclusive electronic rights
Thanks, Stewart! Good to know that BCS is amenable to a 180-day limit. Reprints are exactly the reason I asked about the clause. I've been fascinated with the idea of them ever since I heard of Mike Resnick's "No Heavy Lifting Sales," so I'm trying to keep an eye out for magazines that won...

Limitation of nonexclusive electronic rights
Hi all, On Sept 1st, the SFWA released a new model magazine contract (https://www.sfwa.org/2015/09/sfwa-releases-a-new-model-magazine-contract/), and I've been trying to wrap my mind around the rights they advocate for short story authors. There's a clause in the contract on the limitation on nonexc...

Re: First Four-Fifty Critique Exchanges
I just looked at my calendar and realized we'll be midway through Q4 next weekend. Anyone up for a round of first-450 critique exchanges the weekend of Aug 15th-16th? Edit Just to clarify what I'd meant by "the weekend": Send me your first 450 by 11:59pm PST Friday, and I'll have your feed...

Re: First Four-Fifty Critique Exchanges
. Anyone willing to review a prelim 450 (460 actually) for my possible Q1? Am of course happy to exchange, even a non-wotf if that's all you have available. Or a flash/complete. I'll look at it, Dustin, without the exchange. You've got my email. I don't have anything of my own ready at the moment. ...

Re: Board PHP problems
I'm seeing similar PHP Notice messages to what Dustin posted. They show up in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. I'm able to write PMs, but they sit in the outbox for a long while without getting sent. One of my PMs has been stuck in the outbox for the past 17 hours. wotf005 Edit: Some of the PMs got sent...
