Re: Form vs Personal Rejection

Yep, that's a polite form. I've gotten the same one, myself. A personal rejection usually involves the editor mentioning your story in some way (for example, saying that they liked the story but the characters seemed a little flat, explaining that the word count was too high for what they're accepti...

Agreed. Not spam just a focused account. I've always been afraid to click on the link because it just looks sketchy, and there's no intro or anything in the posts -- just the hyperlink. Has anyone actually followed the link? Does it work? Looks like code that would blow up my computer! lol ~Morgan ...

I think this is good encouragement for all of us, especially if you've sold some things, that we should be writing with publication in mind, instead of the "well, I'm just not there yet," mindset. Exactly. wotf007 wotf010 I guarantee that part of the reason I haven't sold any of my WotF s...

Re: What's a Silver Honorable Mention as opposed to a regular HM?

Even Rs can be publishable. I've sold 3 out of 5 Rs so far, and only 1 out of 5 HMs. I do feel my HMs are better than my Rs in general, so it is just a matter of market really. I second that it's a matter of market, often. I've sold 6 out of 14 HMs (two of my HMs were the same story, just edited), ...

I wasn’t excited about mine until yesterday when I finally started to get into the setting and the characters. I took Dave’s recent blog with the seven elements he looks for and taped it over my desk. I started much earlier this quarter! I should be open for a swap in a week or so if anyone is inte...

Iiiiiiiiiiiii'm pretty sure this is spam. A higher quality of spambot than we've gotten in the past, but spam nonetheless. If you look at Williamhawk's posts, there is a recurring trend of him presenting a problem, asking for our help, saying 'I didn't find the right solution on the internet' (phras...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q4 - Volume 34

Finally have a working second draft. It's far from perfect, but it's definitely better than the first draft was. I've got almost three weeks to get the story ship-shape for submission, depending on things and stuff. I feel much better about the odds of having this done in time than I did last Wedne...
