News flash! Our lead instructors for the WotF workshop? David Farland, Tim Powers and Orson Scott Card. Am I dreaming? Pinch me! I am so jealous, sir... you don't even know. XD I wouldn't have been able to attend this year anyhow, the twins are too young. Trying to wrangle them along with everythin...

Glad to hear it. I was very fond of the show, beginning to end. It wasn't perfect, but it made good on its promises as a series and took things in interesting directions.

Well, my entry is ready. It's been ready for a while and I can't leave it alone. I keep tinkering. I wake up in the night thinking - ooh, that's a funnier word, I'll put that in tomorrow. Yeah, yeah, yeah - I've started another story, but I keep coming back and messing. I love it. I hate it. I love...

Congrats on your publication! It was a good read. Was this one of the stories you previously submitted to Wotf? Actually, no. I wrote it specifically for submission to the Heroic Fantasy collection, expecting to submit it to WotF after it got rejected--and then it got accepted, and I was equal part...

Re: How do you develop a central question for your Short Story?

Sometimes I start with a central idea in mind, but just as often I start with the characters or the plotline and let the central idea build through the course of writing the first draft. I have noticed that there are some recurring themes that tend to show up in my writing (the importance of persona...

You should send in a complete story that fits the word count. If you don't have anything that is under 17k words, either edit them down (although the closer to that limit they are, they harder of a sell they're going to be), or write something that is :) That's sort of disheartening to hear about g...

This may sound weird, but I think what I'm going to try to do in order to make sure 4 in 36 happens is basically start a new short story once the previous one is done up until I've got all 4. If it takes a full quarter every time, oh well, but if I can hit the point of done in closer to a month and ...

Writing resources are always a good thing to have, and the internet is full of them if you know where to look. Can I get a ruling on my story for Q1? The title includes the speculative element, but it doesn't appear...
