Re: Flame Tree seeking short stories

For the record, Flame Tree is open for submissions again! http://blog.flametreepublishing.com/fantasy-gothic/short-story-submissions-lost-soul-robots-and-artificial-intelligence I really like both themes. I'm not sure I'll be able to get two submissions done in time, but I'm definitely tempted to try.

Re: Discussion - Q2 - Volume 35

I just remembered a story in progress that I might, in fact, be able to get ready in time for Q2. I've got a lot of work to do on it yet, which is why I didn't push for it in Q1, but three months ought to be enough time to iron out the kinks. wotf008

Re: Can I get a Round of Applause for the Next Asimov? LOL

First thing's first: It's generally not a good idea to discuss one's story openly on the forum, because this contest is anonymous and having one's story identified could result in being disqualified. That said, welcome to the forum. wotf008 I'm not sure how the contest views religion in relation to ...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Hello all! My name is Grace. I'm an English/Creative Writing student and fledgeling writer and I had never heard about the WOTF contest until a month ago; I discovered it sort of by accident and just submitted my story for Q1 and since then I've been fully absorbed in this forum. I also have a previously written story in reserve as a backup, although that a) probably won't go anywhere and b) seems like cheating. To me, this sounds less like cheating and more like insurance! It feels like cheating because a) my writer's brain claims I should have it out somewhere else and b)...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 35

Okay, I don't hate my Q1... More importantly, I believe I will finish on time. I will be on vacation for a week this month, leaving me precious little time. If I can finish in two weeks, get a reader or two, then cram-edit that final, holiday week, I'll submit something I like. Hopefully. Good time...

Just finished another round of rewrites. Looks like I'm going to make it for Q1 after all, although this isn't the story I had originally intended to submit. This one is coming in just shy of 2300 words though and that concerns me. Is that too short for the contest? Should I add some more depth and...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 35

Rough draft finished. I kept this one simple. At the moment, it's barely over 2k words, but I skipped most of the description in favor of getting the dialogue out, so it'll probably be closer to 3k once I polish it up enough to count as a proper first draft. It's going to need a lot of work before I...
