That probably means you're still in the running, for the moment. Results go out in waves.

And I have news of my own as well. Achievement unlocked: after several attempts I finally managed to have a story accepted by Grievous Angel. Bonus: it was the first of my micro-stories (100 words) to sell. Extra bonus: this ended a dreary dry spell of over two months interspersed with a lot of exc...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 33

It took me quite a while after my dad passed to write again. Recently, I wrote a sci-fi story about him which got an HM last quarter. * It took me a lot of getting going after my daughter died. I eventually wrote a scifi/fantasy piece which was my first HM and inspired by what I imagined might have...

What's Your Short Story Writing Process?

My best approach seems to be . . .

Take a day to work out story details on a single sheet of paper, a beginning, middle, and end.

Next day write the story.

Let it cool for a few hours, then revise and submit it.

Repeat.

Re: Frustrations...

However the remedy for feeling bad about story one is to resubmit story one and meanwhile write and submit story two. (Or in my case forty-two.) The more you have out on submission the less you feel the impact of any specific rejection. Definitely this. And have the next market in mind for each sto...

Then I have no strategy beyond that.
