Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 35

wotf019 Love this! Started my first draft of a story, yesterday. Got 500 words in, got stuck, went to work, and realized I was beginning the story too early while I was halfway through my shift. Had to scrap almost everything I wrote, this morning. Even so, I've gotten started! And I'm (GASP) pantsi...

Re: Submitting Honorable Mentions To Magazines

Dave says he gives HMs for 4 reasons (http://davidfarland.com/2017/05/got-honorable-mention/): 1.) Idea isn't fresh or interesting; 2.) Execution is off; 3.) Plotting problems; 4.) Missing elements. These are going to remain problems wherever you submit, so you might want to take a hard look and fig...

Re: Finishing Stories

Also just my two cents: I'm a big fan of the whole "if you don't wanna write it no one's gonna wanna read it" theory, so I do the gut check fairly frequently: "is this really what I want to be writing?" Obviously, if you started it there was something in it that sparked your inte...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 34

Just keeps getting bigger and bigger: David Farland said Ugh. So I'm wrapping up judging on the largest quarter of Writers of the Future ever, then go to check out quarter three, only to find that there are 15 percent more entries than ever! Stop entering, people. I don't need the extra competition...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 34

Got my Q3 in June 1st, and I have to say, I am on it! wotf024 I think I already have my Q4 done and ready to go (a shorter one, finished last night), though I'm going to see if I can get it through a few pro markets before the deadline.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q2 - Volume 34

I should be writing, but ... Instead I'm compiling lists! :) This is what I've distilled from the threads so far, but I'm sure I've missed some people, or gotten some dates messed up. So pipe up if you need a correction or want to be added. February 24 Ishmael March 10 Rebecca Birch March 11 reighe...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Hi everyone, I'm also a year+ lurker (long observing the irony of a new writer forum that doesn't allow new members...), so it's exciting to finally be able to participate. My first sub was Q2 last year, and I've gotten an HM, SHM, and R so far. I'm still in Q1 2017 and subbed to Q2. Happy to be in ...
