I’m in to Q3! I mean, I’m REALLY into it! wotf001 My Q4 is mentally plotted, I’ll start writing it in early July. I’m still open to last minute swaps if anyone needs eyes. Best of luck taming your muse!

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 35

I'm in. Hit submit tonight. I am reliably informed that this story is awesome. I expect an R. wotf004 Funny how that goes. My Q2 has the most hopes riding on it of any story I've written thus far, but it all depends on the subjective take of the judge. wotf017 Best cure is to write something even b...

Re: Cover Letters v Standard Manuscript Format

That's what I figured, and what I finally decided, but then I had a flash of fear that I was giving them an easy reason to reject me by not knowing the secret of anonymous manuscripts. wotf001 Thanks all for the responses. At least if I get a rejection letter, I can reasonably assume it wasn't becau...

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 35

My Q3 is ready (Ish. Sorta. Kinda. Maybe) for readers if anyone has time to take a look. I'm hoping to submit before the third week of June as I have a conference at the end of the month where I'm theoretically pitching my novel to agents and need ample time to twitch and polish for that. I'm always...

Cover Letters v Standard Manuscript Format

When a publication has an online submission system that includes your name and contact info in the form, but still says "submissions should be in standard manuscript format", should the document itself be anonymous even if the submission information doesn't specifically say so? Some say th...

Re: Discussion - Q2 - Volume 35

Results last year came July 8th for me, but that was the second wave with the HMs and such. I'm not sure when the first wave hit. At any rate we've probably got a good while yet before we should think about twitching.

I've been busy and overwhelmed but I read each of these posts and wanted to say thank you for the advice and the play-by-plays. Re: Four in Thirty-Five (4 in 35!)

This move absolutely threw me for a loop. The unexpected chaos of it combined with the fact that the story I have in the works isn’t going well, well, I haven’t been as on top of things as usual. I may end up working on one of my HMs and submitting that instead of sending in something new. I hate to...

Re: Five Minute Rant

During the move over the last three weeks I got 4 rejections from various places and then the HM. The honorable mention is the only thing keeping me going at this point, honestly. Some days I feel like I can do this if I just keep working, and some days... well, you know. My computer (and all the ot...

For what it’s worth, you can always email Joni and ask for the status of your story. She’s very friendly and replies quickly. Don’t pester her, obviously, but a short polite email has worked before.
