Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 34

Well, I'm in. I had to submit it to stop myself fiddling with it every day. Best of luck to all entrants and an enormous thanks to all of you who swapped with me- your feedback was invaluable!

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 34

I got my final reader comments back today and felt like they warranted some revisions, so I'm still polishing. I'd almost submitted last night but decided to wait, I'm glad I did. We still have seven days. Tons of time.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q2 - Volume 34

Updated through here, I think. Just FYI, as of the Tuesday wave, Dave still hadn't finished his first pass on the paper subs (aka anything mailed in or emailed into Joni on the last day). Yeah, and paper subs (regardless of result) don't usually hear back for a *very* long time... wotf019 I guess I...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 34

First draft finished, ended up right at 7500 words. It's in a rough state, but I think with 3 weeks left I'll have time to get it into a suitable place by the deadline.

FWIW I just got another email from Joni confirming my Q2 entry was received (I was one of the glitch/email 3/31 entries). She wrote "We will have results in about a month from now." Adjust twtichiness as you deem appropriate. Yeah, I got the same email. And I had been hoping today would b...

If anyone is still interested in a first x# swap or a whole story swap, I'd be interested. Story should be finished (first draft) this week sometime.

Do you receive Dave's Kick in the Pants? They are his "daily" comments on writing. He may have one on dialogue even though many of the suggestions here are good. Which is why I won't add mine since it would be a repeat. I do subscribe to that! I have found them really helpful. I didn't th...

Thanks all. I feel the general consensus is to be as streamlined as possible, while also giving the impression of natural (or perhaps convincing would be a better word here) speech - which to me suggests the unnecessary "that" problem I have is, indeed, a problem. Thanks again.
