Re: Jibber Jabber - Q4 - Volume 34

OMG!! Congratulations! That is SO EXCITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There aren't enough exclamation marks in the world right now.

You should totally ask Joni about the other judges the next time you speak to her, though.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q4 - Volume 34

It’s been a week, JF, have you heard? Did Joni tell you how long they’d take to judge?

When you do hear, don’t forget to ask her which judges judged your quarter.

Congrats JF! And good luck :) I feel like it’s time for another forum win.

I do quite like the current trend of everyone hearing at the same time.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q4 - Volume 34

Now we are in the last week, one of traditional heavy traffic. Also remember the online entry system has a habit of shutting down part way through the last day, so if you're going to run it to the line, make sure you have Joni's email. And, for what in all probability will be my lost shot at the ti...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 34

I did not place either :( I'm not as sad about this outcome as I expected to be. Finalist is still pretty awesome, and like peony, they're holding it for published finalist. That's, what, like a 1 in 15 chance of getting to the workshop? 2 in 15 if they take two PFs. Still pretty good odds consideri...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 34

I just got my first HM. wotf008 Now to figure out how to make the next jump. No time to rest on my current submission. Congrats to those who have made finalist! Do you got any advice on how to make that leap from HM? All the blog posts seem to point to profundity. My honest suggestion would be to t...

I just got this message: You missed a call from a Private Number, who said "Hi Kristy Johnny Baki(?) from Raiders(?) the future urgently trying to reach you. I don't know what this means." This message was provided by Telstra at no charge to you. My first reaction was: "Cool message! ...

I'm not sure what te average gap between waves is, but last quarter it was 3 weeks between first Rs and the wave with HMs etc ... Then something like 3 days till Amy got her finalist call :)

Wow, this is quick! Commiserations for the early Rs. They are so rough to see after all the work that goes into an entry. Peony, I caught your paranoia and also checked my spam folder. Still nothing. Phew!

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 34

I'm in. Fri 30/06. Random Q: has anyone discovered anything interesting by using the date of submission data? The waves seem to come all at once for everyone, from what I've seen, regardless of when you submitted in the quarter. Except for paper subs, of course.

Re: If I get a fourth professional sale while I'm waiting for the results, do I get disqualified?

Any ideas onto how? I am reluctant to email the contest director and suggest that she's wrong... But perhaps I could say there was a common interpretation on the boards that it is the fourth published Sfwa sale that disqualifies you, and ask for a blog post to clarify the situation for everyone?

Re: If I get a fourth professional sale while I'm waiting for the results, do I get disqualified?

I queried Joni on my 3rd sale; she said that I would be in eligible *upon publication* of my *3rd* SFWA qualified sale. Everyone told me on a previous thread that it should be interpreted as the 4th sale, but that is the message I got directly from the contest director, so make interpretations at yo...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q2 - Volume 34

Guys, I got a first pass R as well. This is my fourth entry and second R. The first R that I got was for my first attempt in the competition. It was devastating, and confusing, and hit *hard*. I rewrote that story - especially the start - and got I upgraded to an HM. For those of you currently exper...

Ishmael, I just wanted to say thanks for posting the link to SFWA approved markets. I just thought I'd accidentally pro'd out of the contest, but I checked the list and am still in. Re the contest rule that those with "more than three publications" are ineligible: a friend interprets this ...

Quarter 1 is the worst. Do you all remember the good ol' days of Quarter 4? Those were some sweet response times.

We're past Greenroom's estimate of a week, and it IS a Thursday today, but I think Rebecca is probably right and we'll be looking at next week.
