Re: Success!

Another of my serial-HMs for WoTF has sold!

Project Lifeline will be in The Colored Lens' Winter 2020 issue (which I think is *this* winter, not next winter). It's a love story hidden in a somewhat deep dive sci-fi and I'm so happy it's found a home. wotf007

Re: Success!

Congratulations on both! It's a great feeling to finish a novel! And a sale! Shiny! wotf010 I've finished my novel as well. It ended up at 77k words and is ready for editing after Thanksgiving. Great feeling! NaNo rebels for the win! https://media3.giphy.com/media/xT0xeQybeNX8cd631m/giphy.gif

Re: Success!

Not the usual success story, but, uh, I finished writing another novel today. Perfect timing since I didn't really want to write a bunch over the holiday. On to editing next week! Also, one of my HMs was accepted for an anthology. Can't talk too much about that one yet, though, but it's super exciti...

I can now announce that I've sold my first story, and to a pro market at that. Flame Tree accepted my story for their "A Dying Planet" anthology. http://blog.flametreepublishing.com/fantasy-gothic/gothic-fantasy-successful-submissions-detective-thirillers-and-a-dying-planet?utm_campaign=G...

Hey Wulf, I made it in the 3 new, 1 canned category! :)

EDIT: I have no idea what happened, but apparently there were a ton more messages after the one I got the notification for... so my response is probably way out of place.

I'm all set, but thanks for the offer! Submitted a couple days ago.

I'd offer to do a critique anyway, but I'm closing on a house in the next week and I'm a bit concerned I won't have the time to give it a thorough check.

We better be past it... but almost every female author I can think of in the genre uses their initials, which makes me think this is a hill that hasn't been taken yet. wotf020

Re: pseudonyms

I think it's pretty common for authors to use pseudonyms, regardless of the reasons. WoTF judge, David Wolverton, goes by David Farland as well, and his only reason was to allow for easier genre hopping.

If you think it'll be helpful, I say go for it. :)

Q4 Story Critique Exchange?

Hey there,

Would anyone be down for a story exchange for this quarter? I'm sitting on a ~9,000 story right now that I've edited it enough I'm blind to any other failings in the story.

I'm looking for 2-3 folks to swap with if anyone needs another set of eyes on their stuff. wotf007

I'm in for Q4 with a brand new story. EDIT: In as of 9/18 because Joni is awesome and let me pull, edit, and resubmit because I completely screwed up the submission dates (was off by a month). This one was tough. I had ZERO ideas and, instead, had to rely on a bunch of writing tools to make it happe...

wotf057 Awesome. Didn't Preston move from SF to finalist because of an opening? And then won? I think he did, but I'm not holding out for that. wotf001 I'm just happy to have broken that HM barrier. Hmm, No one seems to use this anymore but me. Don't get me wrong, I want to, but I'm taking a new approach to rejections and it's helping. When a story comes in, I immediately turn it around and send it to another market. Whenever I get a query rejection for my novel, I pick another agent and send ...

Re: Success!

I completely forgot to post here, but my serial-HM story to WoTF, Lavender Footsteps , is in The Colored Lens's Summer 2019 issue. It's also my first paid sale and I'm pretty stoked. If you have Kindle Unlimited, it's free to read, so give it a go! https://www.amazon.com/Colored-Lens-Summer-2019-ebo...
