Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 35

Just got Mr. Farland's newsletter over email, and let me say that it seems he is *definitely* in the middle of some WOTF stories. And he has *opinions*. /gulp/ *twitch twitch twitch* Which news letters? I get Joni's emails, but I haven't seen DF's. I think you can sign up here: https://mystorydocto...

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 35

Email Joni, she'll be happy to let you know if you're still in. I'm not entered into Q3. BUT, I've had the same thing in past contest quarters. It all gets sorted out eventually. I think they sometimes come in batches. As others have said, Thursday will be here before anyone knows it Thanks for you...

Given Joni’s message about not having results before the end of this quarter, I wouldn’t think so.

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

Dang! So close! I had a story that was being held for consideration by a semi-pro magazine. I sent them a follow-up after their deadline had passed for getting back to me. The editor told me it's a strong story; they just can't use it at this time. But . . . he also said if the story hasn't sold by...

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

Finally I can post something here. Sent in a very short story to one market. Got back a reply that basically said I almost made it. My story was among those that made it through to the final choice. They think my writing is good and stated in stronger terms than usual to send in another story, Only ...

I wouldn’t worry too much yet... it was almost 24 hours from the first “you made it to the next round” to me getting mine.

I think everything we know about how this works is bollocks* at this point.

@Michael All that being said, your situation does sound worse. If you had your name on it, you probably wouldn't be able to resubmit it either. That being said, all future subs are anonymous, so you still won't have Dave holding it against you. :) Good news on that front! I pinged Joni and she was ...

And, Mike, I've developed a pretty hardcore system of version management. Okay. I'm in for Q4... which means I did it. A new story for each quarter of v.35. One rejection so far (which I ended up publishing someplace else) and one Honorable Mention (which I'm submitting everywhere else). Best of luck to everyone still working on their WIP for Q4. You can do it! wotf024
