Re: Agonizing Mistakes

And, Mike, I've developed a pretty hardcore system of version management. Unless guidelines give a formula for submission file name, or are like Daily SF where you copy/paste text into a sub window, I don't sub ANYTHING that isn't [Title] - [Market] - Submission.docx/doc/rtf Each story gets a folde...

Re: Agonizing Mistakes

Hi Vin, I'm nearly in the same position. I went to take a look at my Q3 submission and can only find a copy titled v1. "Hm," I think, opening the doc. "I thought I went to v2 after the last readers looked at it..." Lo and behold, this copy has all of the reader comments on it as ...

Okay. I'm in for Q4... which means I did it. A new story for each quarter of v.35. One rejection so far (which I ended up publishing someplace else) and one Honorable Mention (which I'm submitting everywhere else). Best of luck to everyone still working on their WIP for Q4. You can do it! wotf024

Re: Four in Thirty-Five (4 in 35!)

I have one more thing to write out and my Q4 is good to go... but the thing is something I've been avoiding since I originally wrote the story three months ago.

Hi Harion, The Submission Grinder by Diabolical Plots ( https://thegrinder.diabolicalplots.com/ ) is reporting a response average of ninety-eight days. I had two stories published at the beginning of this month: "This Isn't Better" in Galaxy's Edge , and "Peace in the Valley" in Factor Four Magazine . They were my second publications in both markets. I am now officially pro-ed out from the contest. I have learned so much from b...

Sorry for the late reply: I’d be happy to take a look if you still need more eyes on it.

My turnaround time is skewed at the moment (niece and nephew visiting for the next few weeks), but I’d be happy to help.

I’m so sorry, BLalley... I thought you were being snarky. My sincere and deepest apologies. After visiting your website I can understand why you see the world through a suspicious filter. Here's my final bit of advice: We make money as writers by selling our work, not our process. *raises an eyebro...

The first judge you have to get by in this contest is David Wolverton (aka David Farland). He has a pretty amazing writing tips blog where he’ll periodically drop nuggets of info alluding to where he is in the judging process.
