Oh, I totally agree with that. I just think it's better to learn from people who have some "credentials" (e.g. some decent contest results, other publications, etc.).

If someone is really looking for advice, they should read Dave's Daily Kicks. He's the coordinating judge, and he gives writers all the advice they need. Generally, I think writing advice from novices can steer one rapidly down any number of rabbit holes. But if we're giving out novice advice, here'...
