Re: Anyone up for a Q1 exchange?

Hi! I've got 1698 words so far, could someone critique my work? I would suggest you finish the story first and then get critiques on either the whole or whatever beginning section you'd like so as to not get over influenced by your readers' feedback and in case your ending or middle changes your be...

Thanks Moon. I just bought the book. Won't get it for a while since it has to ship to Europe, but based on what you said about it, it's worth it.

Re: Discussion: Q2, Volume 36

Back after Hiatus. Anyone up for a swap? 4K words Urban fantasy. I'll be up for a swap in a few weeks if you're still interested at that point. Until then, I've already reached my goal for this week and I'm now aiming for at least 1-2k words per week for my Q2 story and another 5k a week for the ch...

Re: Contest Questions

It would be an interesting to know what the average and median winning story length is, since Dave took over as 1st judge... Any one ventured that far into the contest's statistics?

Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge! Vol. 36

Congratulations to all who made it in. It's all about submitting and taking that risk, last minute or early, to see if your story can tickle the fancy of another chunk of flesh. You win, whether you "win" or not, because submitting is the plunge into the depths. So, congratulations fellow...

I've starting my research and have a goal to write the first 300 words before the end of the week.
Yay for Q2! This is exciting.

Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge! Vol. 36

I submitted and actually went with a fresh instead of a canned. The planned canned still needs so much work so we'll see if the rewrite will go in this year or not. Already thinking of Q2's story.
And my fresh for Q1 was mostly a first draft except for the ending which required two big edits.

Re: Discussion: Q1 Volume 36

I'm almost in. I decided to change submission stories during the beginning of December because the first one still needed a lot of work. I'll probably have to do a major rewrite on it next quarter. For now though I'm correcting typos and working on a few revisions on this much shorter story. Just se...

High fantasy rewrite

So I put in my first submission last quarter and got rejected. Reading over the first section, I doubt Dave even got past the first page so I have been doing a complete rewrite. The story is on the longer end nearing the max word limit, but I'm searching for a critique primarily on the first 1900 wo...

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 35

Just got my results - semi finalist. I know intellectually it is a great result, but I’m still really disappointed. I was beginning to think I might actually be a finalist. Congrats Kristy, even though it's not what you were hoping for. Either way, it's a really nice stepping stone. And to you too ...

There once was a group with the itch To make worlds from words and get rich But every three moons They’d stop in their swoons With their heads put together, and twitch That group did hard search for a sign Whilst the wizards required more time, Questing for a spell With all the right intel For whic...

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 35

I'm expecting quick results this Q. First reader Kary clipping away, Dave healthy again, pressure to move quick to get the anthology printed before the gala, seems like a perfect storm! That would totally increase my twitching for results, but as I've read on the Q3 forum, not everybody has their r...
