Hopefully he feels better soon! Pneumonia is a harsh beast, combined with a heart attack..eish. That's some really bad luck. Sending good thoughts his way!

Do things really have to get 'worse' or can the stakes simply be raised? Conflict comes in different packages.

Re: Discussion: Q1 Volume 36

So is F&SF. I got the "story didn't quite win me over" rejection. What's nice about F&SF is that C.C. Finlay has different rejection letters depending on what part of the story doesn't work for him and he tends to personalize a lot of his rejections. In this case it means the endin...

Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge! Vol. 36

I'll post this here. Kary told me she'll be finished with Q1 tonight. That means Dave has the cream of the crop and can finish his work now. The workshop starts March 31st. My guess is we'll see the first wave within a couple weeks, and hopefully the top tier before the workshop begins. That's an a...

Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge! Vol. 36

I'm terrible at plotting or outlining on paper. I have all the big plot points worked out in my head and the rest usually develops as I'm writing. I find it to be more malleable this way. The one time I forced myself to outline, I abandoned the story halfway through

Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge! Vol. 36

My counsel is this. This is your team. View your challenge members as teammates. Work together as a unit to lift one another up. Share critiques among yourselves, find a sparring partner. You have people that accepted this challenge that are finalists. One is a published finalist. Do you know how c...

So just an FYI, I've been in contact with Joni and she said "we will have results in March, maybe sooner." A lot quicker than I expected, but yeah, apparently that's a thing? So um... prepare to twitch and all that. wotf009 Ok, yes, that definitely sounds worthy of twitching. Only two wee...

I'm working on the climax of my story and I'm hoping to be done with this draft by the end of this weekend. It's not long but not as short as my last one either. Hopefully I can get another story written before the end of the quarter to have 2 to choose from.

Hi! I've got 1698 words so far, could someone critique my work? I would suggest you finish the story first and then get critiques on either the whole or whatever beginning section you'd like so as to not get over influenced by your readers' feedback and in case your ending or middle changes your be...

Back after Hiatus. Anyone up for a swap? 4K words Urban fantasy. I'll be up for a swap in a few weeks if you're still interested at that point.
