Re: New comic set

I’d like to do my own ... forgot what they call them now... hmmm. Bigger styled comic. I’ll remember eventually. I’ve got a great premise, but I would need a good illustrator/comic artist to create the ... graphic novel! That’s it! Whew! Didn’t think i’d remember it. I’m an artist myself, but I’m no...

Reading vs writing

To all- I Looked around the forum and didn’t see anything that came close to this curious question, how much time do you spend reading and how much time writing? The time I have available is very short and I’ve wondered how much time do you devote to each? Which one appears to use more time? Every n...

Re: What's Your Short Story Writing Process?

Older post refresh- Currently I have been focusing on short stories. My novels have lost the time battle. Too big to fit into what I have to work on them. So I’m attempting to develop my skills by shaping smaller stories. What I have found is that there is a general process that I follow. First, I p...

Re: Defiance

I thought it had huge potential. However the show felt ‘forced’ to me. It started out really rough or perhaps choppy. The story concept was intriguing, but some of the story lines a little too of base from the world they were in. I would watch it again mostly because of the ‘what if’ potentials that...

Re: Researching SF&F Fans

Tailoring was a tempting idea, but ultimately I put it aside. However , knowing the general market thirst can help you start with a direction to write if you're not sure where to begin. Keep in mind that the market can shift at anytime though. That is why I write first (if I already have an idea), t...

Re: Where can I find help for checking the science of the world I'm building?

I understand what you’re looking for. My word choice was poor. “Stretched” should have been extrapolated. Like I said before, I don’t know of anything that is available for what you’re searching for. The only idea that comes to mind is to contact a college astrophysics department. See if there is a ...

Re: Where can I find help for checking the science of the world I'm building?

Currently I’m unaware of anything that meets the criteria you’re searching for. However, using what science has on our own solar system should work well enough. There’s a lot of information on our planets. I would use the general rules of logic to develop your world. This topic does fall under the s...

In my past, I was on a flight deck of a particular aircraft carrier. My assignment was with an A-6 VA group and I was with the alert attack aircraft. We were starting up the plane for a readiness testing routine when the flight deck atmosphere suddenly changed. Only someone with expeience on a fligh...

Ideas - easy. Stories - not too hard... but fleshing them out into good literature? For me it’s like using sandpaper for Kleenex.

Thanks for the welcome!

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 35

Spiraledpen here,

New to the contest and a little bit of an old schooler. Does anyone know how the mailed manuscripts get processed? I’m guessing most entries go digital. Do they get processed last? And if so, last to hear the trumpet sound (or the axe). Just a wondering...
