Re: Discussion: Q1 Volume 36

Pardon my ignorance but how can we send to F&SF magazine? I googled it and have no idea. Also I received an email like this after few days of submissions. (As a non-native speaker) I think it means that I will receive response to my short story submission only in July? wotf014 wotf014 wotf014 Th...

i've spent 14 years writing but not sending it out anywhere. wotf017 . Feeling it's not ready yet, because my mentors said so. Oh, thanks. Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 36

Do you plan to query your novel or indie-publishing? I'm going indie way on my first novel. So, that means I'm not out of WOTF contest until I've sold 5000 print copies? I'm purposefully delaying my novel launch to try my hand at the contest. wotf019 wotf019 Gahhh, you guys are leaving me in the dus...

Congrats on your HMs my first two R's were neither SF nor F. (yeah, dumb, I know, I'm fairly new to contest) wotf002 wotf001 . As someone with background in screenwriting I write super-lean. Re: Contest Questions

!. So far I received two rejections, One was flat R, second was R and invitation to send again. Do you think it means something? I was a newbie so I don't know whether it was a 1st wave of Rs or 2nd. 2. I've read somewhere that DF said not to clutter your story with characters. My F story has 10 cha...

Re: Discussion: Q1 Volume 36

I get when they ask story to be 10k or under. But it's frustrating when submissions for Anthologies ask you to write a story under 5k. Like how am I supposed to develop an impressive story under 5k? Normally my stories tend to be 6k-7k long. Even at Future Science Fiction Digest, where I'm an editor...

Although I'm fairly new to the forum, I learned valuable things I had no idea of previously. Yes, R&R is a great thing in my opinion even if it lead to a rejection. Not that agents or any person can determine that one has a talent for writing, it still means you have what it takes. wotf010 You c...

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 35

Yes, fingers crossed! Although I take the submissions grinder results with a pinch of salt, because it also claims there are two acceptances, which just isn’t possible at this point in the competition. It all depends on how users are managing their data. Honey, I never read submission rates on grin...

I also wonder about same thing. wotf002 wotf008
I spent last year reading at least 3-4 hours a day. (English is not my first, or even second language).
The problem is if I read something I cannot do anything other than reading. If I start to write same goes there I can't read even a page.

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 35

Wrestled with myself about whether I'm still eligible, whether to submit, whether I even had anything to submit. Portal is still open and I'm so, so tempted. This contest meant a lot to me. And I really wanted to do 4 in 35. But at this point, sitting on five pro-paying publications with another to...
