Re: Wulf Moon's SUPER SECRET Workshop & Challenge!

The sequel is the bit following something that happened to your character. There are four stages of reaction to a scene/event: 1. The emotional reaction: how am I feeling after this event? Whether this is short or long depends on the kind of book you're writing. 2. Reason reaction: am I hurt? Is th...

Re: SUPERSTARS Writing Seminar

I think writers tend toward the introvert side in general. One of my favorite books of the last few years is called Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain. It helped me understand myself in a new light. But most relevant in this case, she talked about how we ...

Re: SUPERSTARS Writing Seminar

Wulf, few follow up questions. 1) How many business cards did you end up using? 2) You mentioned pitch meetings. Did you have to sign up for those in advance or you just show up during the blocks in the schedule marked as appointments? 3) Who were the pitches with? Agents, publishers, both?

Re: SUPERSTARS Writing Seminar

So I asked Dave recently what I should do to prepare. Here were the things he told me: -Get a flu shot -Drink tons of water because of elevation (said several people get hospitalized every year because of this) -Bring business cards and network like crazy -Make sure to buy the session recordings (I'...

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 36

So I thought I was done with my Q4 submission. But now I am four weeks in on Dave's Writing Enchanting Prose class and madly trying to apply what I have learned to my story. Just not enough time! Guess I will just have to submit it as is when the day comes and hope for the best like every other time.

Re: 4 in 36

I'm committed. Barely got something in for Q1 but got an HM so that was exciting. Much happier with my Q2 submission but it was still pretty last minute. I've got a completed draft of my Q3 done, so I have a lot more time for revisions this time! Fight the good fight all. We're already halfway there...

Crit Swap

So this is the first quarter I have a draft completed before the last minute and actually have an opportunity for critique. Anybody interested in an exchange? My current manuscript is just shy of 8k. I'd be up for a full exchange or first 450 since that looks like a thing.

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Well, here I am, introducing myself. I submitted for Vol 35 Q4 and got my first rejection. Submitted a different story for Vol 36 Q1, but it was a bit of a desperation submission, so I don't have much hope on that one. But I am really going to be trying to submit every quarter this year. I just adde...
