Re: Analog Rejectomancy?
Well. For anyone who might find this thread in the future, I did find an online interview with Trevor Quachri, the current editor of Analog. Wow! He reads all the slush. That's amazing. https://www.diabolicalplots.com/trevor-quachri-interview/ One good reason why their response time is 4+ months.

Re: Success!
Rejections don't always mean it's not your market, but I am glad they found success elsewhere! What is the market so we can check it out when it hits? I agree with you generally, but I think my stories checked a few "not gonna be well-considered here" boxes upon reconsideration. Hehe. In ...

Re: Success!
I submitted two stories to WotF last year. Both were Rejected. I knew based on those results that this contest wasn't appropriate for my material and moved on. One was just accepted for paid publication in a fantastic print market. I thank this community for being a meaningful part of my journey to ...

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 36
"Did not place." Must mean Rejected? Very frustrating result for me, if so, as this story has received 3 editor's responses from major pro markets and the consensus was that it was pro quality, but not fitting for other reasons. I thought for sure that would indicate an HM or above. I do w...

Nearly done. Story has an abrupt ending that I love but that definitely doesn't work. I often enjoy endings that I know are unmarketable. Maybe one day I'll release "Director's Cuts".

Submitted multiple times/earned an HM multiple times (probably with edits each time). Why did I think you could only submit a story once? Because finalists and semi-finalists can't be submitted again, maybe? (Anything below that absolutely can be resubmitted, although editing beforehand is recommen...

I completely forgot to post here, but my serial-HM story to WoTF, Lavender Footsteps , is in The Colored Lens's Summer 2019 issue. It's also my first paid sale and I'm pretty stoked. Re: What do you do with stories when you can't find a suitable market?
I share them with my first readers (friends and fam who are actively interested in reading my work) and edit them thereafter as if I was prepping them for a market. New markets are born every week. Good to have a stable.

Made the "Long List" of a beautiful Indie Print magazine. Fingers very crossed for the Short List and Approval. I think the story is an especially good fit, but know so many others are out there writing their hearts out.
