Re: Discussion: Q2 Volume 37

Thanks Wulf Moon! I added more elements up front in a way that I hope made it clear stuff was coming without giving everything away. I guess we'll see! Hopefully, we can meet up at a future Gala. Glad you liked my dress. Not sure I'll ever be able to top that!

Re: Discussion: Q2 Volume 37

Working on a story I think I can get in before the deadline, but I'm a bit concern about the opening. Much of the supernatural stuff doesn't happen till later in the story, but I know the judges need to know right away that these stories are sci-fi/fantasy. Any tips on how much to foreshadow? How to...

Re: Discussion: Q2 Volume 37

I haven't been here in awhile, but I have been working on a new story. Now I am concerned it might be too dark. Any advice on how dark is too dark? It's a fantasy horror piece, but I think the ending is optimistic. I think that as long as the ending is good, the judges won’t really care about how d...

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 36

I only submitted one story I'd consider funny, and it was really more murder mystery with a wacky dose of satire. Earned me an honorable mention. Also, where do people draw the line between satire and comedy, or is there one? I adore Pratchett, and while I think his work is extremely funny, I also t...

Re: Discussion: Q2, Volume 36

Since the Q1 results needed extra time, perhaps Q2 will also take a while? I will try to practice patience. Sadly, it is not something I excel at.

I'm not sure I understand. What is the problem with posting details of our stories here so long as we submit them anonymously to the contest?

I love the topics mentioned. On a logistical note, I wish the podcast was on Sticher, where I listen to my podcasts in the car.

Re: 4 in 36

I'm a bit late to jump into this, but I'm in. I submitted stories for Q1 and Q2. Right now I have a draft for another story and a partially written additional story. There is no 'late to jump in' with this one, so long as you make the submissions on time. wotf011 Good to know. Thanks! Looking forwa...

I am loving this thread and all the great advice. Is it too late to join? I submitted new stories for Q1 and Q2, though my Q1 was rejected. Never too late, Brandie. Welcome. Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Hi all! I heard about the forum from Wulf Moon and thought I'd check it out. I've submitted a few times over the last two years and have received two honorable mentions. I generally love YA fantasy with elements of mythology or fairytales, and that influences a lot of my work.
