Re: Quarter 1 Writers and Illustrators of the Future Vol. 37

Congratulations! I will be soon. (I want to wait until I've finished the story I'm currently working on since I'm on a submissions time crunch.) Right back at you on the Congrats. :) Yeah, I'm on a submission time crunch too, but the well is running a bit dry lately and I'm hoping the course might ...

Re: Discussion: Q2 Volume 37

Well, with my son now being home for at least the next 4 weeks, my writing is taking the backseat to keeping him educated and entertained. My submission for this quarter isn't done yet, and at this point I doubt it will get done. But I'm ok with that. We are getting opportunities to do all the litt...

Re: Discussion: Q2 Volume 37

Took me a while to land on the right idea, and then a while to figure out where to start the story. I think I have it, now. All that's left is to finish the dang thing and get it in. :) Yes, I know, COVID opportunity - but I am working from home and have a 3rd grader to help through each day, so we'...

Definitely agree with KD Julicher. Very glad that no one is being forced to make that choice. I'm bummed, but WotF is still doing their best to make sure our experience is as close to past winners' experiences as possible. :) Great perspective, SP. And of course, heartfelt congratulations in spite ...

So, has anyone received certificates yet for Q4? Nope, me either. Last year I received one certif as soon as 2 months later, the other as long as 6 months later. Joni's pretty good about following up. If you don't see one by the time the next results come out you can probably safely ping her. wotf035

Help! I have been asked to provide a bio by Sci Fi Lampoon. What do I include? I have never had to write a bio before. If you've never published before and don't have any writing credits, give some info that tells a bit about you. Did you start writing early? Have you always loved to read? Did you ...

I'd expect other special characters are really the ones you want to avoid (pointy brackets, ampersands, percents, dollar signs, pound signs etc). Yes, hubby and I were thinking along those same lines (we're in tech fields, too). Control characters bad, grammatical characters not so bad. I was on th...

Is there anywhere on the site that shows what specifically the scholarship covers? Is it purely registration? The craft class / add-on? I assume hotel and travel are not included, but I can't find anywhere that specifies.

Anyone else out there like I am? I make the first 3/4 or so of a story shine, meticulously crafting every word and description, but then I tend to peter out at the end, resulting in a lackluster ending. What a horrible way to destroy a nice story! While making the first 3/4 shine is wonderful, I im...

I tend to think of myself as an angsty writer to begin with so that might tell others about the level of emotion you can include in a ...
