Re: Contest Questions

From what I've gathered, you're paid per word when your story makes it into the anthology - apart from the prize money as a winner.

Re: WORD 2010 Formatting Trauma

I write in WORD 2010 and in Scrivener. I usually plot only in Scrivener after many try/fails on transferring prose from Scrivener to/from Word. Did you copy&paste to Word or compile your Scrivener project into a word document? Getting the compile settings right can be a bit tricky - but it's ce...

Great to hear! And thanks for updating us on this. (Even though I wasn't around for when you ran into this, it's great to know how it turned out)

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

I've never really achieved anything of worth in my life, so, if I can do this... I can do anything. I'm pretty sure you've achieved a great many things in life. It's usually just a matter of perspective. E.g. you say that you're a Massage Therapist, so you've worked your way to that profession, and...

Re: Writers of the Future asks for your podcast input.

I really like the podcast so far. It's so interesting to hear from the judges!

There only seems to be a slight issue with the mix/mastering. E.g. in the episode with Kevin and Rebecca, Rebecca's voice was really low compared to Kevin's, so I had to change the volume constantly to hear everything.

Re: No Confirmation Email?

I've had issues communicating with Joni via email in the past. She wouldn't get my emails sent from and outlook.com address. We had to switch to an address on my personal domain for it to work.
This time I entered with outlook.com again and it seems to be working fine.

Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge! Vol. 36

Hi, Helge. It was a bad quarter for my wife's health, and that means a bad Q for me. I asked her if she could spare me two days at the end of the month if at all possible, and somehow that worked. So it was last two days of the last Q of the contest year. I had the afternoon the day before deadline...

Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge! Vol. 36

I'm working on my Q3 right now, and I'm a bit discouraged because it is in first person, which has been revealed as a discouraged style for the contest. I feel that it adds to the story, but I don't want to hurt my chances further by using a style that the judges really don't like. I have read othe...

Thank you so much, Anike! I am pleased you enjoyed "Super-Duper Moongirl and the Amazing Moon Dawdler." After all those years of trying, my 36 hour blast was my winner! I had no time to read it through, just pounded it out and tossed it to my wife at 11:15 pm on the last day of the last q...

This is not a regular occurance for me. I had to fight for every sentence of my last two rough drafts, but they also weren't nearly as rough. It's going to take awhile to flesh this puppy out into a first draft, and that'll still need refining because my first drafts are generally way too light on ...

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 36

I got ambushed by a scene I couldn't ignore and ended up writing a rough draft of my Q3 in screenplay format today. It's missing the meat (i.e. the prose), but it's got the skeleton (a.k.a. the themes, which came about as a direct consequence of the characters and their dialogue). Everything fell t...

Currently, they're running the beta for Scrivener v3.0, which is free and quite stable. I've been using it for the past couple of months. IIRC they do a promotion during NaNoWriMo. The hard drive on my old laptop died last week. Data has been recovered and computer switched to a solid state hard dri...

I read some more on this. Looks like Finlay uses 3 tiers of templates, according to this blog post: http://www.ccfinlay.com/blog/nectar-for-rejectomancers.html
Mine would be the lowest tier rejection and yours the highest. wotf010

You still have Q3 if you wish. Submission end date is June 30.

Oh, I already submitted to Q3, but it’s a story I started a year ago, before getting back to writing seriously again. So not fresh wotf001

Any mobile app which works with this forum?

I’m writing this on my mobile (iPhone) right now and the web experience is a bit lacking. (Not complaining)
Do you know of any app which makes using the forum on a mobile easier?
